When the some 4,000 soldiers of the brigade leave for Europe later this year, they will do so as the Army’s “most modern brigade” – the service’s first brigade to complete the Army’s push to modernize heavy formations. At the training center, the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team brought its arsenal of 87 new M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks, 125 M2A4 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, 13 M7A4 Bradley Fire Support Team Vehicles and 18 M109A7 Paladin self-propelled howitzers – the Army’s newest and most deadly versions of the weapons that anchor a heavy brigade.

The deployment of new NATO forces near Belarus' borders is the real threat to European security, not Belarus keeping Russia’s nuclear weapons on its territory, the country’s Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

"Deployment of fresh NATO’s troops near the Belarus’ border and further Alliance’s enlargement in Northern Europe are an irresponsible escalation and key factors threatening European security," reads the statement posted on the ministry’s Twitter page.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen outlined her vision for the future of EU-China relations at a speech in Brussels on Thursday.

An explosive report has blown the lid off a NATO nation's 'sham' support for Ukraine. Estonia, a NATO member, is allegedly using European Peace Facility (EPF) funds to renew its own weapons while sending old stocks to Kyiv, according to a Politico report. The European Peace Facility (EPF) fund is intended to partially reimburse countries that have sent military aid to Ukraine but is now reportedly being exploited. According to seven EU diplomats quoted in the report, Estonia is sending its scraps to Ukraine and buying brand new material for itself, financed with EU money.

The European Union is developing proposals on what to do with assets of the Russian central bank that were seized by member states. According to European officials, the bloc may invest the money and give the returns to Ukraine.
