Germany Offered Washington to Spend €1 Billion Aiding US LNG Imports If US Ended Sanctions on Nord Stream 2

The German government offered the Trump administration financial support of up to €1 billion ($1.21 billion) in a bid to prevent Washington from imposing sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, according to documents published by the non-profit Environmental Action Germany (DUH) Tuesday.

The controversial pipeline, which is nearing completion, would double the amount of natural gas delivered annually from Russia to Germany.

What did Germany allegedly offer?
The DUH published a personal letter from German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz to former US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.

Scholz allegedly offered funding for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US.

In return, the US was asked to allow the “unhindered construction and operation of Nord Stream 2.”

Achtung Baby! (It's Cold Outside) – Germany's "Green" Energy Fail Rescued By Coal And Gas

Germany’s held up as the world’s wind and solar capital. But, at the moment, the ‘green’ stuff can’t be purchased, at any price.

Its millions of solar panels are blanketed in snow and ice and breathless, freezing weather is encouraging its 30,000 wind turbines to do absolutely nothing, at all. [Note: don’t forget about the constant supply of electricity from the grid that these things chew up heating their internal workings so they don’t freeze up solid!]

So much for the ‘transition’ to an all wind and sun powered future – aka the ‘Energiewende’.

Despite being the object of consternation and much vilification over the last 20 years, Germany’s coal-fired plants are now being appreciated for what they are: truly meaningful power generation sources, available on demand, whatever the weather. With a Nationwide blackout a heartbeat away, the German obsession with unreliable wind and solar is like a time bomb set to explode.

Implanted “Vaccine Package” ID: Germany’s Parliament Has Ratified GAVI’s Digital “Agenda ID2020”

Alarming News. In Germany the Parliament (Bundestag) ratified on 29 January 2021, the implementation of Agenda ID2020.

This is a centralized general electronic data collection of every citizen to which every government agency, police – and possibly also the private sector would have access.

It covers all that is known about an individual citizen, now up to 200 points of information and possibly more as time goes on, from your bank account to your shopping habits, health records (vaccination records, of course), your political inclinations, and probably even your dating habits and other entries into your private sphere.

Agenda ID2020 was designed by Bill Gates as part of the “vaccination package”. It is backed by the Rockefeller Foundation, Accenture, the WEF and GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, now simply called the Vaccine Alliance), also a Gates creation (2001), with HQ in Geneva, Switzerland.

Germany: Politicians, virologists facing 'rising hostility from COVID deniers'

"We see with concern that the number of threats and hostilities is steadily increasing," Holger Münch, Germany's top federal police investigator, told Der Spiegel magazine on Saturday.

"More and more frequently, we are registering attacks on journalists" and persons exposed in media coverage, he added.

Münch is head of Germany's Federal Crime Office (BKA), based in Wiesbaden, and in charge of major investigations nationwide — beyond those handled by police forces in the 16 regional states.

‘Genie’s out of the bottle’: German FM pledges €21 million to help Belarusian opposition in fight to remove embattled Lukashenko

Germany has set aside €21 million ($25.3 million) as part of its new “action plan” aimed at supporting opponents of the Belarusian government, Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has told an improvised pro-opposition online conference.

Seemingly in an effort to cement an image of Berlin as the leader among European nations sponsoring anti-government movements in the post-Soviet space, Maas on Saturday addressed the so-called Belarus Solidarity Conference. This was a virtual event organized by the World Belarus Congress, a forum of Belarusian expatriate diasporas and opposition-supporting groups.

“The Genie of democracy is out of the bottle. There is no way to put it back,” Berlin's chief diplomat said in a pre-recorded address, as he promised millions of euro in support to the Belarusian opposition.

Germany discloses names of Dutch SS veterans still receiving pensions for serving Hitler in WWII

After refusing similar requests for years, Germany has finally revealed to the authorities in the Netherlands the names of Dutch citizens who are still getting monthly benefits for fighting for the Nazis in World War II.

Berlin has forwarded a list with the names of recipients of German pensions between 2015 and 2019 and the exact sums they were paid, the Dutch State Secretary for Finance Hans Vijlbrief said in a letter to parliament, which was cited by local media.

It turned out that 34 people in the Netherlands were getting the ‘Kriegsbeschädigtenrente’ or disability stipends from Germany as of two years ago. The payments ranged from several hundred euros to as high as €1,300.

Most of the beneficiaries were veterans of the Waffen SS, or their widows and other closest relatives. Media reports claimed that among them could be war criminals and former guards at Auschwitz-Birkenau, as dozens of Dutch served at the infamous death camp alongside German troops.

Biden Administration Halts Plan to Pull 12,000 Troops Out of Germany

A plan to pull about 12,000 US troops out of Germany ordered by the Trump administration has been put on hold, the head of US European Command said on Wednesday.

“At this very moment, every single one of those options, they are all on hold. They will all be reexamined from cradle to grave,” Gen. Tod Wolters told reporters. He said Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had begun a “very thorough review” of the drawdown.

With the new Biden administration more friendly to NATO and keen to confront Russia, it’s no surprise that a plan to bring troops out of Europe was put on pause, and the chances of the US following through with the drawdown after the review are slim.

There are currently about 34,000 US troops stationed in Germany. President Trump ordered the drawdown partly because he said Germany was not paying enough for its defense.

Merkel ‘let down’ Navalny, should have sent him to Russia earlier, says speaker

German authorities should have realized that Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny is on probation and should have sent him to Russia earlier, Speaker of the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) Vyacheslav Volodin said Tuesday.

"The countries that instructed him, took part in the film shooting (about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s alleged palace - TASS) and then sent him to us, they managed to send him bypassing all controls and turnstiles and board him on the plane. They should have understood that he is on probation, he should report himself [to law enforcement agencies]. But why are they acting so crudely to violate our legislation. He should have been sent earlier," he said. "Ms. Merkel (German Chancellor Angela Merkel - TASS) hosted him there. She should realize that she let him down, while her intelligence services are falling short."

“COVID-19 Jails” Open in Germany for Quarantine Offenders

The 19th-century philosopher George Santayana famously wrote, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Shockingly, Germany seems to be suffering from a severe bout of historical amnesia. Taking extreme action to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the country is interning people in “camps” to punish those found “guilty” of subverting strict COVID-19 quarantine rules.

Opening today, February 1, 2021, in the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein, is Germany’s first “corona prison.” Reporting by the RAIR Foundation uncovers that quarantine offenders will be held at the former Mortsfelde youth detention center. Inmates will be “policed by former law enforcement officials and prison wardens.” The crimes allegedly committed by these “dangerous” individuals include “refusing to quarantine after engaging in travel, after coming in contact with high-risk individuals, or after receiving a positive test result.”

Facility for ‘Quarantine Objectors’ in Germany Ready for Inmates

Today is the official start, but so far the rooms have not been used. Until Friday afternoon it was not foreseeable that the districts would already make use of the accommodation, said a spokeswoman for the district assembly. In the building on the grounds of the Moltsfelde juvenile detention center in Neumünster, there is space for up to six quarantine objectors. The cells are each twelve square meters in size and the facility is closed from the outside. The operator is the Segeberg district and makes them available to the other districts and independent cities.

German Doctors Letter to Chancellor Merkel, Put an End to the Covid “Fear Machine”

Dear Chancellor Dr. Merkel,

We, the signatories, are doctors from all areas of healthcare, who have been serving people in practices and clinics for decades. During this time, we have witnessed more than one seasonal infection in Germany, most of them with far more severe conditions and significantly more deaths than since January 2020 from COVID infectious diseases. Together we serve approx. 70.000 people.

The circumstances of the coronavirus wave in the FRG have been perceived differently than the media and the ongoing warnings of politics, which were unjustified in fact, presented to the public for months. Predictions of individual advisory virologists with millions of seriously ill and hundreds of thousands of deaths in Germany have not been true in any way.

In the practices, hardly any infected patients were infected and if, then with no

“I Don’t Want to Live Any More”, Said the Child to Her Mother. The German Government Strangles The Future of Its Own People

Has the panic fear that politicians of all stripes have been trying to instil in people on behalf of the global criminal elite for the past year and the reflexive obedience robbed us parents, grandparents and fellow citizens of all compassion?

Or how is it to be understood that children and young people – presumably not only in Germany – suffer the worst under the illegal and useless mass quarantine of corrupt governments and express: “I don’t want to live anymore” – and there is no outcry or uprising in the country?

The climax of this outrageous scandal: the head of the German government puts off the parents until the day of never-never.

What are we to think of a state that strangles its youth and thus the future of its people, only to slavishly serve the “satanic clients” in the background and perhaps one day be allowed to be their courtier? What are we to think of citizens who silently accept this just so as not to attract attention and not to have to say NO!

Germany's AfD Slams Gov't Attempts to Spy on Party Ahead of Elections as 'Political Move'

The German government is trying to diminish the election results of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party ahead of the federal elections by initiating an investigation and threatening to place the entire party under surveillance over alleged ties to right-wing extremism, Albert Breininger, a member of the party said.

"According to our government, right-wing radicalism is the biggest problem in Germany, where there is no Islamic radicalism or any other issues to dream with. They are twisting facts and the concept itself: patriotism is called chauvinism, fascism or Nazism. Merkel's government simply uses the intelligence services to spy on us. It is a political move ahead of the elections. We are the biggest faction in the Bundestag after the ruling [Christian Democratic Union] CDU," Breininger said.

Merkel admits she has lost 'control' of crisis – devastating details leaked from meeting

The German Chancellor said the threat posed by new coronavirus variants spreading at a faster pace than the original meant the country was "sitting on a powder keg". Mrs Merkel warned things could "easily" turn for the worse in the coming weeks. The German leader also said the reopening of the retail sector planned for mid-February may now be delayed, warning it was "not assured".

According to the German daily Bild, Mrs Merkel told regional officials: "You can introduce a 15-kilometre exclusion zone, but it is difficult to ban travel around the world."

She added: "We have to thin out air traffic so that you can no longer go anywhere."

Lufthansa might protest against this but the risk was "great", said the Chancellor.

‘Catastrophically wrong’: German court declares regional lockdown UNCONSTITUTIONAL in ‘politically explosive’ decision

A German district court has declared a strict lockdown imposed by the government of the central state of Thuringia last spring unconstitutional, as it acquitted a person accused of violating it.

A trivial case about a man violating strict German lockdown rules by celebrating a birthday with his friends has ended up in a decision the German media described as “politically explosive.” A district court in the city of Weimar did not just acquit the defendant but also stated that the authorities themselves breached Germany's basic law.

Thuringia's spring lockdown was a “catastrophically wrong political decision with dramatic consequences for almost all areas of people's lives,” the court said, justifying its decision. It particularly condemned a restriction limiting private gatherings to the members of one household and one person outside of it.

Germany Expected To Put Right-Wing AfD Under Surveillance For Violating Constitution

Germany's Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, is constantly on the lookout for potential threats to Germany's democratic constitutional system, and it has wide-ranging powers when it finds them.

"This agency has the power — and not only to do surveillance on fringe groups, domestic terrorist threats, but also to keep an eye on any political institution, like a political party," said Melanie Amann of the German newsmagazine Der Spiegel and the author of a book about the Alternative for Germany, or AfD.

"Like if their program becomes more radical or if they notice that a political party, maybe that's even sitting in the parliament, goes into a direction that might be harmful to our political system."

Bavaria-Wide Ban On Alcohol Consumption In Public Areas Overturned

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has struggled to impose lockdowns by consensus with the leaders of Germany's various states, is now seeing Bavaria, one of the most significant and most economically vital regions of Germany, buck the latest national lockdown extension.

Merkel pushes for coordinated bans on UK arrivals to EU due to new variant of coronavirus – British media

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has allegedly proposed that Brussels allows EU countries to shut their borders to UK travellers following the emergence of a more contagious variant of the coronavirus, a report claims.

EU nations would be “free to impose temporary bans on entry and on transporting passengers entering from [non-EU] countries with virus-variants areas,” the Times reported on Thursday, citing a draft proposal submitted to Brussels by Berlin.

According to the paper, the move is being wholly backed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and emphasizes “an urgent need to act in order to prevent or at least slow down the spread of worrying virus variants to and within the EU area.”

European countries were thrown into panic mode when a more contagious variant of the coronavirus was discovered in Britain late last year. More than 40 states quickly suspended flights from the UK in December.

Flashback: How Russian Pipelines Heat Up Tensions: From Reagan’s Battle Over Yamal To The European Row On Nord Stream 2

The Yamal pipeline, born at the height of the Cold War, was fiercely fought by President Ronald Reagan. Nord Stream 2 is heavily contested by several Eastern and Central European countries, Ukraine, the United States and-in a different tone and to a lesser extent due to institutional constraints-by the European Commission’s top level officials. Though Yamal and Nord Stream 2 affairs present several striking similarities, they might differ in their development.

Germany approves resuming Russia gas pipeline work

BERLIN -- German authorities on Friday gave immediate permission for work to resume on a subsea pipeline bringing natural gas from Russia.

The decision by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency can be appealed, meaning there could be another halt to the construction on the Nord Stream 2 project, which has drawn major criticism from the United States, some other European countries and environmental groups.

The U.S. government has argued that the Baltic Sea pipeline would make Europe more dependent on Russian gas and hurt European energy security. The Kremlin has responded by accusing Washington of trying to promote its own liquefied natural gas sales.

The pipeline project was also opposed by the administration of President Barack Obama, and German officials have said they don't expect broad changes in U.S. policy when President-elect Joe Biden takes over from President Donald Trump.

Germany’s anti-BDS resolution violates the right to free expression

German cultural institutions have criticized the German parliament’s anti-boycott, divestment and sanctions resolution for creating a legal gray area and undermining the right to free expression.

The 2019 resolution urges German institutions and public authorities to deny funding and facilities to civil society groups that support the BDS movement.

But in December, major German art and academic institutions denounced the resolution as “detrimental to the democratic public sphere” and warned of its negative impact on the free exchange of ideas.

That prompted an investigation, also in December, by the Bundestag’s scientific service department – an advisory body to the federal parliament – which reached a similar conclusion that the anti-BDS resolution is not legally binding and violates the constitutionally-protected right to freedom of expression in Germany.

The Querdenken-711 Twitter page says: "We for fundamental rights: the lateral thinking demos are not anti-corona demos, but demos for the restoration of our fundamental rights."

The Upper Administrative Court of Saxony banned the demonstrations in a ruling last Saturday.

The city of Dresden had initially imposed the ban on any large gatherings, citing the number of participants and consequent risk to public safety in the context of the pandemic.

‘Merkel’s surrender & worst of all possible worlds’: Soros pens angry op-ed over Polish-Hungarian victory in EU budget talks

Hungary and Poland getting the EU to abandon its move to make Covid-19 relief conditional on ‘rule of law’ standards to control their policies has incensed international financier George Soros, who called it a German surrender.

The European Commission originally imposed “rule-of-law requirements” on member states for disbursing the pandemic recovery funds. The measure was seen as a method of pressure on Budapest and Warsaw, which have been at odds with Brussels over their laws on the media, the judiciary and LGBTQI+ rights, among other things. Hungary and Poland responded by threatening to veto the entire seven-year EU budget, prompting Brussels to back down.

German anti-lockdown protest group placed under observation by intelligence services – reports

Intelligence services in Germany are monitoring a far-right group calling for an anti-Covid restrictions rally on New Year’s Eve, media reports say. The group ‘Querdenken 711’ is seen as the driving force behind the movement.

Leading German magazine Der Spiegel has reported that the Stuttgart branch of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution – a state-level security agency in Germany – has placed the group and its offshoots under observation.

Officials are reportedly “alarmed” by the group and its supporters calling for a mass rally against the Covid restrictions in Berlin on New Year’s Eve.

Germany: Political Dissident Ursula Haverbeck Sent Back to Prison; May Become Oldest Female Inmate In the World

Just weeks after finishing a two and a half year prison sentence for “Holocaust denial,” 92-year-old Ursula Haverbeck has been convicted again by German courts, this time for an interview she gave in 2018 that affirmed her view that Jews were not systematically killed during World War II and that the gas chambers at Auschwitz are a politically motivated lie.

If the federal court’s sentence of one year in Haverbeck’s newest case holds up, Germany will have the dubious distinction of imprisoning the oldest female inmate in the world, a title previously held by American Lucille Keppen, who was incarcerated for shooting her neighbor and was released at age 93.

The German government has been dragging Haverbeck to court for decades for disputing Jewish claims of gas chambers and systematic murder. Haverbeck has famously protested the kangaroo courts that humiliate and defame elderly war veterans using bogus testimony from “survivors.”

Threat of More Illegal US Sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 Pipeline

The US under both right wings of the one-party state is waging a long war on Russia by other means — and all other nations unwilling to bow and scape to its imperial demands.

US aggression includes endless smashing of Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and at times Iraq.

US war by other means rages endlessly against China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Somalia, and all the above-named countries.

Thats how the scourge of imperial lawlessness operates.

NDAA Targets Russia to Germany Natural Gas Pipeline

Lobbyists representing Ukraine's energy sector in Washington are happy to see sanctions targeting Nord Stream 2 in NDAA

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) unveiled last week includes an amendment that targets the Nord Stream 2, a natural gas pipeline that will run from Russia to Germany. The pipeline has long been in the crosshairs of Washington.

The original Nord Stream consists of two lines that run from Vyborg, Russia, to Lubmin, Germany, near Greifswald. The Nord Stream 2 project would add two more lines and significantly increase the amount of gas moving between the two countries. The project is estimated to be worth $11 billion and is about 90 percent complete.

NDAA Seeks To Halt Trump's Troop Withdrawals From Afghanistan & Germany

The version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) agreed to by the House and Senate, known as the compromise version, includes provisions to block President Trump's planned troop withdrawals in both Afghanistan and Germany.

For Afghanistan, there is language in the bill that would block funding to reduce troop numbers in the country before the Pentagon, State Department, and the director of national intelligence assess how the drawdown would affect US security. The assessment would be required before troop numbers could drop lower than they are when the NDAA becomes law, and again if they drop below 2,000.

Germany Reveals There’s a Russian Pipelayer Ship in Its Waters That Will Help Complete Nord Stream 2

On Thursday, six days after Nord Stream 2 AG announced that it would resume construction of the pipeline, US lawmakers unveiled the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, targeting the mammoth energy project with new sanctions. President Trump, however, has threatened to veto the 2021 NDAA over an unrelated matter.

Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency has revealed that the Fortuna – a Russian-flagged pipelaying crane vessel, will be engaged in pipelaying activity in German waters.

In a navigational warning on its website, the agency states that the Fortuna will be working in the southern Baltic Sea off Ruegen, a large German island situated in the country’s northeast. The warning is in effect from December 5 to 31.

German vaccine pledge appears to discriminate against Palestinians

The UK government has become the first in the world to approve general use of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and the German company BioNTech.

Other countries can be expected to follow quickly, marking a new phase in the fight against the deadly pandemic.

Israel may be among the first in line to receive the vaccine. According to Israeli media, Germany is planning to give Israel special access to vaccine stocks.

“A report by the Ynet website claimed Germany used its influence in the EU to bend the rule that a European-produced vaccination would be given first to European countries,” the JTA news agency reported in October. “Germany justified the decision in part through its historical commitment to supporting Israel.”

Judicial Watch: Records Show Obama DHS Scanned Georgia Election Site in 2016

Judicial Watch announced today that it received 243 pages of records from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that show the Obama administration’s scanning the election systems of Georgia, Alaska, Oregon, Kentucky and West Virginia in 2016. This activity prompted a letter from then-Georgia Secretary of State (now Governor) Brian Kemp to then-DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson accusing DHS of, “an unsuccessful attempt to penetrate the Georgia Secretary of State’s firewall.”

The records were produced in response to Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, which asked for all records related to reported cyberattacks against the Georgia secretary of state’s information network involving DHS, including investigative reports, memoranda, correspondence and communications between October 1, 2016, and February 14, 2017.

Berlin has urged “all parties” to avoid escalating tensions following the assassination of a senior Iranian scientist in what Tehran suspects to be an Israeli operation. Iran’s leader has pledged to go after those responsible.

“A few weeks before the new US administration takes office, it is important to preserve the scope for talks with Iran so that the dispute over Iran’s nuclear programme can be resolved through negotiations,” a spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry told Reuters in an email.

We therefore urge all parties to refrain from any steps that could lead to a further escalation of the situation.

Merkel’s Germany Tells Trump Not to Bring Troops Home from Afghanistan

The German government has come out in opposition to President Donald Trump’s plan to bring American troops home from Afghanistan, arguing that putting an end to America’s longest war would be too “hasty”.

Members of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government said that President Trump’s planned reduction of the American military presence in Afghanistan from 4,500 troops to 2,500 troops by January 15th would endanger peace negotiations between the Taliban and the Afghan government.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said: “It shouldn’t be taken for granted that these two sides, after decades of conflict, are sitting at the negotiating table to begin talking to one another in a constructive way.”

“That’s why we shouldn’t add even more hurdles, which a rash exit from Afghanistan would lead to,” he said.

Doctors could soon be forced to perform abortions in one German state

As the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg finds itself short of abortionists, the government is considering forcing doctors to carry out the procedures – and those who aren’t willing to kill unborn babies might find themselves pulled out of the job candidate pool.

Many of the abortionists in the state are older than 60, and a member of the state’s government, Barbl Mielich, has said that the generational change is becoming more noticeable and that there are few younger doctors willing to follow them. She said: “The main problem is that we have to get the young doctors to perform abortions. We are counting on them being made aware through further training that this is part of their work.”

Three detained in raids over spectacular €1bn German jewel heist

Large-scale raids link last year’s Green Vault robbery to giant gold coin theft in 2017

The break-ins were old-fashioned in their execution, the loot extravagant in value.

Now investigators have concluded that the perpetrators behind two of the most spectacular heists in recent German history probably hail from the same organised crime syndicate.

Arrests made in large-scale raids in Berlin’s Neukölln district on Tuesday morning link last year’s historic jewel heist at a Dresden museum to the same “Lebanese mafia” family whose members were sentenced earlier this year over the theft of one of the world’s largest gold coins from a Berlin museum.

11-Year-Old Muslim Schoolboy in Berlin Reportedly Threatens Teacher With Beheading

An 11-year-old Muslim pupil at the Christian Morgenstern primary school in Spandau, Berlin, threatened to behead a teacher, Der Tagesspiegel reported on Tuesday, quoting the school's head, Karina Jehniche.

Client-State Germany to Protect “Rules-Based World Order” From China in the Pacific Ocean

Following the US, other Western countries are looking to increase their presence in the Pacific to counter Beijing. On Thursday, Germany’s Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer said Berlin is looking to join Australia in the region for naval drills.

The defense minister said Germany will send a Navy ship to the region next year to join Australia for joint exercises. Echoing the rhetoric coming out of Washington, Kramp-Karrenbauer said China is undermining a “rules-based world order” and said Germany wants to increase its footprint in the Indo-Pacific by teaming up with “like-minded” allies.

“China has its own ideas about individual freedoms, human rights, our Western idea of democracy,” she said. Kramp-Karrenbauer also called China’s global infrastructure project, the Belt and Road Initiative, a “challenge we have to react to.”

Never again dictatorship - What is Germany's Basic Law?

The German constitution, known as the Grundgesetz or Basic Law, protects the freedom of individuals, guarantees their dignity and ensures that all people are treated equally before the law - no matter what their race, origin, language or religion. It also subjects state power to strict controls through the separation of powers - to prevent a dictator from ever seizing power in Germany again.

With the Basic Law, Germany learned its lessons from the catastrophe of the Third Reich, the Nazi dictatorship under Adolf Hitler from 1933 to 1945. Tens of millions of people died in World War II, in which Germany was an aggressor. Six million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust.

After 1945, democracy returned to Germany, at least in the west of the country. There, the Basic Law was adopted in 1949. It was intended to serve as a transitional constitution, until Germany could be reunited.

Coronavirus: Can German courts overturn all lockdown measures?

German courts are dealing with a major rise in legal complaints against government lockdown measures — and, unlike at the start of the pandemic, they are now getting more involved.

Berlin-based Lawyer Niko Härting has been taking on some of these legal challenges — and his case-load has piled up in the last week. He says hundreds of restaurants, hotels, gyms, yoga schools, tattoo studios, and other businesses have called his office asking for advice.

"We tell everyone that it'll be a hard fight," he told DW. "Because up till now in the pandemic the courts have been very cautious about lifting the measures."

Police Probe Syrian YouTuber Who Dragged 'Macron on Leash' Through Berlin Streets - Video

The unusual performance took place amid a wave of protests in Islamic countries and among Muslim communities worldwide against remarks made by the French president, who defended the right of people in his country to draw and show cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad – which is what purportedly prompted two knife attacks in France in October.

Berlin police have launched an investigation into the actions of German YouTuber of Syrian origin Fayez Kanfash, who in a recent performance for a video "dragged" another man wearing a wig and a mask with the face of French President Emmanuel Macron through the streets of the German capital. The pseudo-Macron had his hands tied with a rope that was also used by Kanfash as a leash to drag him along while "insulting him and pretending to beat him", as police described the act.

Muslims Yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’ Protest President Macron in Berlin

Globalist Angela Merkel: We MUST Limit Your Free Speech

German Chancellor Angela Merkel delivered an emotional speech to parliament this week, urging MPs to help her severely restrict free speech in Germany.

The globalist leader argued that the government must strip away the free speech rights of citizens in order to make Germany “more free.”

“For those who claim they can no longer express their opinion, I say this to them: If you express and pronounced opinion, you must live with the fact that you will be contradicted. Expressing an opinion does not come at zero cost. But freedom of expression has its limits. Those limits begin where hatred is spread. They begin where the dignity of other people is violated. This house will and must oppose extreme speech. Otherwise our society will no longer be the free society that it was.”

That’s not quite how free speech works, Ms Merkel.

Macron played a gamble on three fronts and it paid off. Now, France has dethroned Germany

French President Emmanuel Macron might have pulled a fast one on Berlin. For years, Germany remained the the most powerful European Union power- the de facto leader of the Brussels-based intergovernmental bloc. Yet, in the changing global realities, Macron has been able to outmanoeuvre a confused German Chancellor Angela Merkel and propel France into becoming the unelected leader of the European Union.

Macron has silently staged an upset within the EU. And he has outdone Germany with three daring gambles- rapprochement with Russia, intent to fight Erdo?an’s Turkey and early recognition of the Chinese threat. On the other hand, the German Chancellor kept pushing for status quo in a fast-changing world to the extent of pushing her own country into irrelevance.
