Hollywood Royalty Takes On Cancel Culture

Comedian Jon Lovitz joined his name on the list of celebrities who have opposed "cancel culture" and informed of its negative repercussions on the comedy world.

“I’ll just say it: It’s no different than McCarthyism,” comedian Jon Lovitz said during an interview earlier this week, citing the 1950s blacklisting of alleged communist allies.

LGBTQ Writers Demand More Hollywood Jobs, Punishment of States with ‘Anti-Trans’ Legislation

LGBTQ writers in Hollywood are claiming widespread discrimination in the entertainment industry and are demanding executives take decisive steps to hire more queer, gay, and transgender writers.

They are also demanding Hollywood studios take action against states that have passed “anti-trans legislation” — which presumably refers to laws banning transgender drugs and surgery for minors, as well as laws prohibiting transgender women from competing in girls’ sports.

In an open letter sent Friday, the LGBTQ+ Writers Committee of the Writers Guild of America, West said Hollywood must do more to increase on-screen representation and fight discrimination.

The world is rocked by the arrival of aliens in Invasion teaser trailer

Apple TV+ has a solid hit with its alternative-history sci-fi drama For All Mankind, which just wrapped its second season, and the streaming platform clearly hopes to repeat that success with a new forthcoming sci-fi drama Invasion.

Don't confuse this ambitious project with the 2005 ABC series of the same name about water-based creatures taking over the bodies of people living in a small Texas town after a severe hurricane (basically an aquatic riff on Invasion of the Body Snatchers). Apple TV+'s Invasion is more of a 21st-century riff on War of the Worlds. Shot on four locations on four different continents—New York, Manchester, Morocco, and Japan—the series is intended to "make you question what you would do under extraterrestrial threat," per the official premise, and "takes a global look at how one alien invasion would affect us all."

Webmaster's Commentary:

They are really pushing this UFO/Space Aliens idea really hard!

Who Foresaw a Woke Corporate Dystopia?

Perhaps the 1993 sci-fi satire film Demolition Man with Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes, Sandra Bullock, and Rob Schneider?

There are probably other satires from the 1990s, which had a lot of political correctness in the early 1990s and pretty widespread revolt as the decade went on.

Children’s cartoon Blue’s Clues features LGBTQ pride parade with drag queen & ‘trans’ animals

A popular children’s television show, Blue’s Clues, has been accused of indoctrinating its young viewers after releasing a LGBTQ singalong with lyrics many adults don’t even understand, in celebration of ‘Pride Month’.

Published on the show’s YouTube channel, the video, titled “The Blue’s Clues Pride Parade Sing-Along,” features a cartoon version of Nina West, an American drag queen, who leads the children in a song set to the tune of ‘The Ants Go Marching’. Floats with animals waving rainbow and transgender flags pass by on the screen as West sings.

The song features words such as “queer,” “trans,” “bi,” as well as “pan” and “non-binary,” with the lyrics displayed at the bottom of the screen so that children can sing along.

For example, as a group of beavers decked out in LGBTQ and trans regalia ride by, the drag queen sings:

Indiana Man Is Selling a Single Chicken Nugget For $500

You've seen social media posts, even stories on the news about food that has unique and familiar shapes. Locally, Ron Rhoads, of WEHT, has a Funky Fruit segment during his morning weather forecasts. The photos he posts simply get the finder television bragging rights. While others are sold for crazy sums of money to collectors of such oddities.

When I saw a post on Facebook Marketplace about a McDonald's chicken nugget, shaped like the state of Indiana, for sale I laughed. That was until I saw the price. David Cissell is asking $500 for the single Hoosier state-shaped nugget. It IS shaped like our fair state, but $500? Really?

Welcome to another edition of "Indiana Fun Facts." An ongoing series where I share with you tidbits of trivial knowledge I discover about our home state. In today's edition, we learn that Elvis's last concert took place at a venue in Indianapolis just two months shy of his death.

Throughout his career, no one was a bigger star in the music world than the King of Rock 'n' Roll himself, Elvis Presley. Men wanted to be him, women wanted to be with him, he was charismatic, handsome, and unbelievably talented both on stage and in front of the camera. Unfortunately, like so many other musicians who ride the highest of highs, Elvis succumbed to the vices that often go along with fame when he died at Graceland of heart failure due to abuse of opiates on August 16, 1977, at the age of 42.

Israel is teetering on the edge of civil war, and what do celebs do? They leap in Tweet first.

Israelis and Palestinians are killing each other. Again. This time it could turn into a full-blown civil war. But never fear, the celebrities have arrived and they're going to settle this millennia-old dispute, in 280 characters.

We mustn't talk about Israel. No, no, no. It's the ultimate political quagmire. Just leave it alone. It's way too complicated and, well, the actual details are ancient and a little bit boring for a generation who define their entire existence in 280 Twitter characters and other social media posts.

A deadly and significant conflagration looks imminent between Israelis and Palestinians, though, and today real people are really dying – including children. But that hasn't stopped a whole load of celebs leaping in Tweet first, as it were.

Bill Maher tests positive for COVID, forcing cancellation of Friday 'Real Time' episode

COVID-19 has sidelined comedian Bill Maher and, for one week at least, his HBO talk show, "Real Time with Bill Maher."

The "Real Time" Twitter account Thursday announced the cancellation of Friday's episode after the fully vaccinated host "tested positive during weekly staff PCR testing for COVID." The tweet continues that Maher "is asymptomatic and feels fine."

"'Real Time' production has taken every precaution following COVID CDC guidelines. No other staff or crew members have tested positive at this time," the tweet says.

Maher, who most assuredly will comment on the situation when he returns to his show, tweeted thanks to well-wishers later Thursday, while noting that he doesn't feel sick. He also lamented missing an episode, ending a streak that he says started in 1993 with an earlier show, ABC's "Politically Incorrect," and extended to "Real Time," which premiered in 2003.

Elon Musk Brings Ratings Lift to ‘Saturday Night Live’

Elon Musk’s turn as “Saturday Night Live” host brought the NBC late-night mainstay its third-highest ratings of the season.

The May 8 edition of “SNL” averaged a 4.8 household rating in Nielsen’s overnight metered markets and a 2.7 rating in adults 18-49. That put Musk’s episode at No. 3 behind Dave Chappelle’s outing as host on Nov. 7 and the Oct. 3 season premiere fronted by Chris Rock. Musk tied the ratings mark set Oct. 24 with the episode hosted by Adele with H.E.R. in the music slot.

Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, made headlines by revealing that he has Asperger syndrome during his opening monologue. Musk marked the rare choice of a business world personality to host the NBC late-night institution although his pop culture profile has grown in recent years thanks to some of his antics and business ventures, all of which were spoofed on “SNL.”

Marvel Boss: Doctor Strange Was Cut from ‘WandaVision’ to Avoid the ‘White Guy’ Showing the Female Lead ‘How Power Works’

The popular Disney+ streaming series WandaVision was originally set to feature a cameo by Marvel superhero Doctor Strange, played by actor Benedict Cumberbatch. But Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said the “white guy” was cut so as to avoid him teaching Wanda, the strong female lead, “how power works.

Kevin Feige, made the admission this week revealing that the nine-episode series was going to feature a closing cameo by Doctor Strange. The sorcerer was apparently going to show and help Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) better understand the great powers she had developed during the series, among other ideas that were kicked around. Cumberbatch was even signed to reprise his role as Doctor Strange.

However, Cumberbatch was cut to avoid what Feige called the “white guy” coming in at the end to explain power to Wanda.

Frank Capra’s Defense of Humanity: Cinema Considered as a Moral Institution

Frank Capra (1897-1991) stands as one of the most brilliant directors/producers of the 20th Century, and sadly also one of the least understood- known at best for the film It’s a Wonderful Life played every year as a Christmas tradition, or Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

Unbeknownst to even many film connoisseurs today, Capra was not only a pre-eminent cultural warrior who took every opportunity to expose fascist movements during the 1930’s and 1940’s but also fought to provide a positive principled understanding of the divinity mankind’s higher nature in all his works. When asked to put into words what motivated him to create movies he said:

“My films must let every man, woman, and child know that God loves them, that I love them, and that peace and salvation will become a reality only when they all learn to love each other”

Michael B. Jordan Addresses The Possibility Of Playing Black Superman

Actor Michael B. Jordan, who stars in the upcoming adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, recently addressed the possibility of playing a black Superman.

Jordan is no stranger to the question. Back in February 2019, he addressed a rumor that surfaced from Deadline that he might be playing Superman in an upcoming film.

Jordan appeared on Oprah where he stated, “Yeah, that was a rumor, I heard that. I heard that. I heard that. I heard a few rumors buzzing around. I think just to be in those conversations, it’s flattering. It’s very humbling.”

Then after Oprah asked him if he wanted to play Superman, Jordan responded, “It’s tough. You know why because I hate being a businessman also and understanding both sides of the situation. I think there’s a huge upside to it, but there’s being under that microscope and being picked apart and compared to so many different versions of Superman. I would rather do something original.”

Hollywood Was Born In America And Died Under The Influence Of Communist China

Travon Free used his time in the spotlight at the Oscars to scrutinize police for their use of force.

"Today, the police will kill three people, and tomorrow, the police will kill three people, and the day after that, the police will kill three people because, on average, the police in America every day kill three people," Free announced throughout his acceptance speech.

Free, who was a co-winner in the live-action short category, then proceeded to quote the late writer James Baldwin and announced it was "despicable" to be indifferent to the misery black people suffer at the hands of police.

7 Parts Of 'Rapunzel' That Were Really Messed Up

We all know the basics of Rapunzel: girl with long hair imprisoned by an evil witch, prince comes along, climbs up hair, rescues said trapped princess. (Why Rapunzel didn't just cut off her hair, knot it to something and climb down it herself is testimony to the power of Stockholm Syndrome.) But, while the original story seems to draw inspiration from several tales of women trapped in isolated places in various cultures, the Grimm Brothers' version of Rapunzel is the definitive tale — and it's one hell of a bizarre ride.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Claire located this after we watched Disney's "Tangled" last night. It is one of my favorite recent Disney movies; especially Maximus the horse (the team that animated him were brilliant IMHO). But in the spirit of "wokeness" Disney did sanitize the original tale a wee bit!

Enough of Hollywoke! Hannity blasts the Oscars as ‘a far left protest telling Americans how to think' and says viewership has tanked like it did for NFL when Kaepernick took knee. Megyn Kelly criticizes 'incessant lecturing'

Sean Hannity on Monday night criticized the Oscars for being overly political, agreeing with his former Fox News colleague Megyn Kelly that the 'woke' show had alienated viewers and driven ratings to an all-time low.

Just 9.85 million viewers tuned in - a 58 per cent drop on last year, which was already a record low, with 23.64 million viewers, according to early Nielsen numbers.

Hannity derided the Oscars as 'one big far left protest where self-obsessed celebrities berate the American people and tell them how to think'.

Nolte: Woketard Oscar Ratings Plummet 58%, First Time Below 10 Million Viewers

“In delayed fast national results just released by Nielsen, the 93rd Academy Awards were watched by a mere 9.85 million, with a dismal rating of 1.9 among the 18-49 demographic,” reports the far-left Deadline.

How dreadful is that? Well, last year’s Oscars used to be the lowest-rated in history, and this is a collapse of 58 percent below that. In the key 25-54 age demo, the collapse was a whopping – this is not a typo – 64 percent.

For comparison, just three years ago, total viewership dropped below 30 million for the first time in the ceremony’s recorded history.

The final numbers will be in later today or tomorrow, but holy cow. Who expected this? I mean, other than absolutely everybody.

Oscar Nominee Andra Day: School Textbooks ‘Are Designed to Continue White Supremacy’

Oscar-nominated star Andra Day has claimed the textbooks used in American schools are designed to perpetuate “white supremacy,” alleging they deliberately downplay or hide the accomplishments of black historical figures, including singer Billie Holiday, whom she plays in the Hulu movie The United States vs. Billie Holiday.

The pop star, who is a best actress nominee for her role in the movie, also praised Stacey Abrams (D) in a wide-ranging interview with left-wing cultural critic Roxane Gay for The Hollywood Reporter.

During the conversation, Andra Day attacked school textbooks, claiming they frequently omit historical accounts of black people, like the controversy surrounding Billie Holiday’s song “Strange Fruit,” which was a protest song against racist lynchings.

“We didn’t know because textbooks are designed to continue white supremacy, right? In schools and colleges. I didn’t know about [the women of] Hidden Figures because we weren’t supposed to know,” she said.

Oscars 2021: Regina King Kicks Off Ceremony with Threat to Protest if Derek Chauvin Case ‘Had Gone Differently’

Actress-turned-director Regina King wasted little time Sunday by kicking off the 93rd annual Academy Awards by declaring she would have protested in Minnesota “if things had gone differently this past week,” in an apparent reference to the verdict in the Derek Chauvin case.

Regina King began with a long track through Union Station in downtown Los Angeles before ending up in front of a live audience.

“I have to be honest: if things had gone differently this past week in Minneapolis I might’ve traded in my heels for marching boots,” King said. “I know many of you want to reach for your remote when you feel Hollywood is preaching to you, but as the mother of a black son who fears for his safety, I know the fear that so many live with. And no fame or fortune changes that. OK?”

Watch: 11 Woke Rants at the Oscars

Oscar winners and presenters at the Academy Awards are famous for using the platform to preach politics in grandiose speeches that have pushed left-wing narratives and promoted Democratic Party positions.

The 93rd Academy Awards, slated for Sunday, is likely to be no exception. TV ratings for the telecast have hit history lows. Still, sanctimonious speeches have been commonplace throughout the years — from global warming activist Leonardo DiCaprio launching into a climate-charged rant in 2016 to Kumail Nanjiani and Lupita Nyong’o giving a shout out to “Dreamers” in 2018.

Here is a look back at some of the most woke rants at the Oscars in recent years.

Holding the Oscars in a train station makes sense – the show was a ghastly train wreck

As evidenced by this most recent disastrously dull and incoherent ceremony, the annual Academy Awards are on the fast track to irrelevance.

My biggest question regarding 2021’s egregiously bungled and boring Oscar telecast is…if an awards show collapses but no one is watching, does it make a sound?

Interest in the Oscars has been in steep decline for years now, and after suffering through the entire three hour and twenty-minute show last night I can dutifully report that the 93rd Academy Awards came in with a whimper and left with a whimper, too.

New World Mordor: Amazon and New Zealand’s Lord of the Rings deal lays bare the ‘idyllic’ nation's role in global surveillance

Amazon’s forthcoming Tolkien production is anticipated to be the priciest TV show ever made, with the retail and streaming giant spending $250 million on the rights alone, plus hundreds of millions more on filming each season.

But there’s no worry of Amazon Studios going bust fulfilling its Middle Earth fantasies, because the New Zealand government is subsidising the series via a special 25% rebate for production costs. As well as being the most expensive TV show in history, Amazon’s Lord of the Rings project will also enjoy what is likely the biggest government cultural subsidy of all time.

The number of people who tuned in to watch the three-hour long 'wokefest' that was the Oscars has hit an all time low with just 9.85 million viewers.

The television ratings for the 93rd Academy Awards on Sunday night is a 58 percent drop compared to last year's already record-low 23.64 million viewers, according to early Nielsen numbers.

The huge drop in ratings for Hollywood's biggest night continues an overall multi-year downward trend for the Academy Awards, which were above 43 million as recently as 2014.

Major Hollywood Studios Release Woke Statements Following Conviction Of Former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin

This Tuesday, Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted on all three charges he was facing in the death of George Floyd — namely of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.

Following the former police officer’s conviction, of course some of the major, woke Hollywood studios had something to say — releasing virtue signalling statements that promoted the Black Lives Matter organisation and even pushed the anti-police agenda.

“George Floyd’s murder is another chapter in the history of police brutality against Black people,” reads a statement shared on Twitter by HBO Max.

The statement continues, “Former police officer Derek Chauvin’s conviction was just, but the result is not the norm and the battle for racial equity continues. We remain committed to the Black community, especially our Black colleagues, storytellers, and fans, in this fight.”

In the course of hanging the posters, Madonna says, “All safety is an illusion.”

Toward the end of video she turns, looks into the camera, and says, “Beware of this new vaccination for America to keep us all alive; it’s gonna keep us all safe. It’s called gun control, okay? It’s called gun safety, alright?”

She added that the “new vaccination…should be mandatory.”

Conservative Hollywood is Struggling To Get Their Voices Heard

A documentary film about an African American lawyer who grew from poverty and dictatorship in the Deep South to the highest court in the land would seem natural for Black History Month. In February, however, at the very time, its Prime Video service was starring films featuring black history makers, Amazon without reason stopped offering digital streams of “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words.”

While the film was removed despite having at one time reached No. 1 on Amazon’s documentary charts, the world’s largest online retailer proceeded to make free streams of less-popular documentaries, including a favorable one on Anita Hill, the former Thomas colleague who nearly wrecked his Supreme Court authorization.

Actor Zach Avery Arrested for Allegedly Running Multi-Million Dollar Hollywood Movie Ponzi Scheme

Actor Zachary J. Horwitz, best known under his stage name Zach Avery, was arrested Tuesday in Los Angeles in connection with a massive Hollywood Ponzi scheme, which federal authorities allege defrauded investors out of more than $227 million.

Avery is accused of fabricating licensing deals with Netflix, HBO, as well as other platforms, in order to secure funding for his film distribution company, 1inMM Capital LLC, according to the FBI.

Avery's lawyer and publicist did not immediately respond to PEOPLe's request for comment.

In a sworn affidavit filed in Los Angeles federal court, FBI agent John Verrastro said Avery then used the funds for "personal benefit" and to make payments to previous investors "in the style of a classic Ponzi scheme."

Avery founded the Los Angeles-based 1inMM Capital LLC in 2013, claiming to distribute English films to the Latin American market through partnerships with HBO and Netflix, the FBI said.

Makers of ‘Gosnell’ movie to ‘blow the lid off Biden corruption’ with ‘My Son Hunter’

The creators of Gosnell and ObamaGate shared their plan to film a biopic of Hunter Biden — centered around his corrupt business dealings and scandalous lifestyle — that will include revelations from Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell.”

“This movie is going to tell the whole story,” said Phelim McAleer as he announced the film with his wife, Ann McElhinney. “China, Russia, Ukraine.”

“We know that Twitter suppressed the story in the New York Post,” McElhinney noted, referring to Twitter’s banning of a New York Post bombshell report revealing that Joe Biden was aware of his son’s Ukrainian business dealings.

V for Vendetta Might Be Even Better 15 Years Later

There’s a point about halfway through V for Vendetta when a character is looking at headlines and sees one that reads: “80,000 Dead.” The thought that some singular event could have killed so many people is meant to shock both him and the audience. In 2006, when V for Vendetta was released, it probably did. But in 2021, in the midst of a global pandemic that’s killed almost three million people worldwide, it feels not just plausible, but all too relatable, and revisiting the film reveals far, far scarier notions than anyone involved could have possibly imagined.

Now Norman Stanley Fletcher falls victim to the woke police: BBC puts 'offensive language' warning on iPlayer versions of classic prison sitcom Porridge

In one episode of the programme, Fletcher told a prison escort 'You'd have to be Sidney Poitier' to serve in London's Brixton Prison, while in another he calls prisoner McLaren a 'poof'.

A BBC Spokesperson told MailOnline: 'Attitudes and language change over time and our approach, just like other streaming services, is to tell viewers when a show includes something that maybe offensive, inappropriate or outdated and because some people aren't offended, it doesn't mean that others aren't.'

One disgruntled fan said: 'Why have @BBC put an advisory notice on Porridge? This woke nonsense has to stop. One of the greatest ever sitcoms.'

Another said: 'What a load of tree hugger guff.'

Beyond Parody: The World Of Mike Judge’s Idiocracy Is Better Than Joe Biden’s America

Idiocracy is hilarious. But Judge and Cohen are off the mark. America isn’t becoming Idiocracy. It’s becoming something worse. Fifteen years after the film’s release, the future portrayed in Idiocracy is indisputably superior to the present liberals are creating right now in America. -- Insane? Not remotely. And we’re here to tell you how.

Fury as SNL joke about Israel vaccinating ‘Jewish half’ of population comes too close to calling it ‘apartheid state’

The comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL) was accused of peddling hateful anti-Semitic tropes after joking that the half of Israel’s population already vaccinated against Covid-19 must be Jewish.

The punchline was delivered by Michael Che in the Weekly Update segment of the show, accounting for just a few seconds amid numerous dunks on Ted Cruz taking a vacation in Mexico amid the Texas power crisis. Critics say the joke was “stoking hatred against Jews by perpetuating libels.”

Bette Midler Suggests Texas Deadly Winter Storm Is ‘Payback’ from God to Senators Cruz, Cornyn

As millions of Texans suffer through an unprecedented winter storm that has caused widespread power outages and has claimed the lives of at least 21 people, actress Bette Midler is using their hardship to score political points, seeming to argue that the storm is “payback” from God against Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn.

Bette Midler tweeted her divine retribution theory late Tuesday, describing the Republican senators from Texas as “hateful,” “vicious,” and “cruel.” She implied that God is punishing the politicians for voicing objections to the Electoral College certification in January.

While Sen. Cruz registered his challenge to Biden’s certification, Midler incorrectly cited Sen. Cornyn, who declined to join fellow Republican lawmakers in their Electoral College objections.

Judas and the Black Messiah exposes Black Lives Matters for the establishment-controlled bourgeois bulls**tters that they are

The new Black Panthers movie is one of the best of the year. But it’s being critically misinterpreted in order to scuttle working class solidarity in favor of maintaining the status quo through racial hysteria.

Judas and the Black Messiah, which opened in theaters and on the streaming service HBO Max on February 12, recounts the true story of the betrayal of Fred Hampton, the charismatic chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers, by Bill O’Neal, an FBI informant.

The flawed but fantastic film, written and directed by Shaka King, features a fascinating story and scintillating performances from Daniel Kaluuya as Hampton and LaKeith Stanfield as O’Neal, making it among the very best movies of this thus far cinematically calamitous year.
