Official: Seep found near BP's blown out oil well

A federal official says scientists are concerned about a seep and possible methane near BP's busted oil well in the Gulf of Mexico

National Security Information to Be Leaked in Series of Reports
Quinn Hillyer at Washington Times found out Friday. He prints a warning letter which has gone out from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, telling them to do whatever necessary to protect staff in sensitive positions.
It’s outrageous that WaPo would “stretch” to endanger national security and personnel, but it’s certainly not the first time. Or even the 2nd time. Where will the Obama Department of Justice stand on this act of treason?
It’s a felony to do so, just ask Bush advisor Scooter Libby who was prosecuted (wrongly) under federal law

German-Jewish group to send aid ship to besieged Gaza soon

A group of Jewish activists in Germany will send an aid ship to the besieged Gaza Strip at the end of July to break the blockade and to express their rejection of Israel's inhuman acts against the Palestinians.

Palestinian Women Political Prisoners

Since 1967, approximately 700,000 Palestinians have been arrested and detained under Israeli military orders. This number accounts for close to 20 percent of the population in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Today, 7,000 Palestinians -- including over 300 children and 34 women -- remain in Israeli prisons. The AIC explored the stories of two Palestinian women, both former prisoners, and looked at how Israel uses imprisonment to stifle popular resistance against the occupation.

Big Pharma Makes Another Killing

Activist Post

The latest outrage against the health of humanity is the paltry fine levied against GlaxoSmithKline by our protectors, the Food and Drug Administration. The drug, Avandia, which was cited in 2007 as a potential danger, has indeed become one at the rate of around 500 heart attacks and 300 cases of heart failure per month. The fine of $2.1 billion after taxes -- which may seem large to most -- is less than a third of Glaxo's annual profit.

Avandia was not banned; by a 20-12 decision it can continue to be sold to the very same segment of the population that is likely to continue harming. The fine is nothing compared to the continued profits that will result from the FDA's current refusal to pull this killer drug off the market.

Global Warming Scam : 2010 is Not the Hottest Year

According to Marc Morano at Climate Depot, the 10th of a degree difference they're talking about is the result of cherry-picking data.

Besides – this is summer, and what they're talking about is weather, not climate change.

But aside from the normally expected counter-analysis to warmist claims from those who are actually scientifically competent, there is a particular phrase in the new promo that immediately catches my attention - on record.

What record?

No help from Washington

Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) officials in the government of Mohamed Abbas often complain they spend more time negotiating with American rather than Israeli governments. This has been particularly true of late. Since Israel’s all-out assault on Gaza nearly a year and half ago, Palestinian officials have discontinued all direct talks with the Israelis and have been talking to the Americans. US presidential envoy George Mitchell has been closely engaged in the region since May 2010, but his efforts have not proved fruitful.

The Intelligence Industrial Complex Prepares for War

But what I’m perhaps most amused by is this paragraph:

This series has been a long time in preparation and looks designed to cast the IC and the DoD in an unfavorable light. We need to anticipate and prepare so that the good work of our respective organizations is effectively reflected in communications with employees, secondary coverage in the media and in response to questions. [my emphasis]

Nowhere in this memo–at least as republished by Marc Ambinder–does House even hint that Priest has her details wrong (and given that she’s been working on it for two years, I’d be surprised if she did). The only real risk that House raises is the “unauthorized disclosure of sensitive and classified information.”

"President Barack Obama stepped up criticism of Republicans on Saturday for blocking jobless aid, hammering home a Democratic election year attack line that casts the opposition as the party of the rich."

I should note that despite her illness and pain, Mrs. Patel, who hadn’t been out of the apartment for almost two months, was gracious, beautiful in a red-striped caftan and, but for occasional moans when the car hit a rough patch of road, remarkably uncomplaining.

All she wanted was to do was take delivery of the silver the bank was holding for her in the form of the certificates she’d bought decades earlier.

It was, or ought to have been, an uncomplicated transaction.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Olympic Class Bastards

Webmaster's Commentary:

When international peace activists from Christian Peacemaker Teams arrived in the area at 9:30am, the large bagger that had been used to break up the concrete of the cistern was just leaving the site. The driver of a large tractor lifted scoops full of rocks and dumped them into the demolished cistern. Also, workers cut and disposed of irrigation pipes laid in two fields. Israeli border police demolished a rainwater cistern and removed irrigation pipes from several Palestinian fields in Al Beqa’a Valley just east of Hebron on July 14, 2010, the second day of incidents in the area this month.

The fields each measured 10 dunams (approximately 40 acres). One was a field of grape vines and the other field had tomatoes planted under grape vines. In addition to dismantling the irrigation pipes, the workers also cut the twines that were holding up tomato plants. At least seven families will be affected by this destruction, in total about 50 people.

Common sense (and engineering) will tell you that if you have a pipe with leaks, putting a cap on one leak simply drives the oil out the other leaks. From an environmental perspective this makes no sense, because the oil is still leaking out of the well, just in a different place. Of greater concern is that the oil can flow out into the surrounding rocks the way the mud did during the failed Top Kill procedure, forming what is called a subsurface blowout. This is a huge bubble of oil inside the rock. The danger is if the bubble ruptures and the oil collected over 80 days of leakage rushed to the surface of the gulf all at once. Such a surge of oil could easily engulf and founder the surface ships.

‘NHS doesn't care about cost of medicine’: Drugs firms accused of profiteering by raising prices by ONE THOUSAND per cent

Drugs companies making everyday medicines for the NHS are facing claims of profiteering after imposing huge price rises for commonly prescribed drugs.

The increases – some as high as 1,000 per cent in just two years – coincided with some of the firms involved earning massive profits.

One company boss said the NHS ‘doesn’t care what it costs’.

The medicines are not new innovative products developed by pharmaceutical companies after enormous investment in research and development.

Instead, they are unbranded so-called ‘generic’ drugs which have been available for many years and include commonly used antibiotics prescribed to millions of patients.

Why are equal rights dangerous? In today's Israel, advocating equal rights for all can prove fatal

Much, but not all of this fury, is a consequence of daring to speak out on behalf of Palestinians in the biggest prison in the world, Gaza, a land cruelly and illegally deprived of essential goods. Yet American elected officials seem far more concerned with specious claims against humanitarian aid workers who were violently attacked and abducted by Israel in international waters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Our Congress should be comprised of people who put the needs and interests of the US first, second, and third, and those needs and interests should never be compromised by those of a foreign government.

On November 17, 2009, a US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit three-judge panel upheld the conviction, shamelessly accusing Lynne of "knowingly and willfully making false statements," redirecting her case to District Court Judge John Koeltl for resentencing, instructing him to consider enhancements for terrorism, perjury, and abuse of her position as a lawyer - an outrageous mandate intimidating Koeltl to comply.

U.S. To Grant Israel 2.775 Billion In Security Aid

U.S.. Assistant Secretary of State, Andrew Shapiro, stated Friday that the Washington intend to grant Israel the amount of 2.775 Billion U.S.. Dollars in what was described as the largest military-security aid to Israel.

He said that the money is considered a special military-security aid to Israel in order to ensure "its security needs are met under the current circumstances".

Israeli settlements have been dumping untreated waste directly into a sewage canal that runs through the occupied West Bank, affecting Palestinian villages along its banks.

Petraeus promotes civil war in Afghanistan

President Obama and his military team recognize that it is less damaging at home, where there is almost no support for this endless occupation, to foment civil war in Afghanistan and pay desperate Afghans to slaughter each other as a means of reducing U.S. casualties.

U.S. taxpayers who are experiencing devastating cuts in state and local budgets, layoffs of municipal workers, soaring tuition hikes in public colleges—all because of budget shortfalls—will see billions of their tax dollars go to fund the occupation of Afghanistan and pay the salaries of poor Afghans so that they can shoot other poor Afghans.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is so sickly immoral, I just don't know where to start.

This war in Afghanistan has absolutely nothing to do with the safety and security of this country; it has everything to do with potential private profit from the installation of pipelines with which to control Eurasian oil, from the drug trade, and from unexploited mineral deposits.

As BP claims success in capping well Gulf economy in ruins

If the well is successfully capped, one can be certain that the US media will drop the story, "concerned" politicians will wind down their investigations, and BP and the oil industry as a whole will go back to raking in enormous profits on reckless drilling operations.

But what will be left of the Gulf?

The region faces a social, economic, and ecological catastrophe from which it will never recover under the current political set-up, dominated by two big-business parties and a government that at every level does the bidding of the financial and corporate elite. This basic fact has been amply demonstrated by the response to the spill itself, which from the beginning took as its overriding concerns the financial preservation of BP and the demands of the oil industry.

Webmaster's Commentary:

By definition, corporations are entities without conscience.

Therefore, it is imperative that enlightened governments have rules and practices enforced to prevent the kind of disasters, both socioeconomic, and environmental, that we have witnessed with the Gulf oil spill catastrophe.

Obama had well over a year to take care of the MMS, and did absolutely nothing until well after the crisis hit.

At the end of the day, it will ultimately you and me footing the bill for the cleanup and remediation of this mess, and the quality of that clean up will most probably be cosmetic at best.

Just ask the people living in Prince William Sound just how well they're faring in the aftermath of the Exxon Valdez oil spill disaster!

Does Event Honoring Israeli Spy Suggest Another Israeli Operation?

His iconic status assures that news of Pollard—any news whatsoever—emboldens Israeli-Americans committed to the Zionist geopolitical agenda. Attempts to secure his release assure hyphenated Americans that their “homeland” will stand in solidarity with them at any cost. Israeli offers of large sums of money reinforce that commitment.

Americans remain largely clueless about the espionage role played by Israeli-Americans. Few recall Jonathan Pollard. Fewer still grasp the costs that Pollard’s treason imposed in blood and treasure. Nor do Americans understand the overwhelming influence of dual-citizens both in creating and communicating the false intelligence that took the U.S. to war in the Middle East.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel should be grateful that Pollard wasn't executed by the US government for treason.

And then [name withheld], who always had a hard time with such things, went in, caught the squad commander and said, 'Don't touch him any more, that's it.' US army heat-ray gun in Afghanistan

A newly-developed heat-ray gun that burns the skin but doesn't cause permanent injury is now with US troops in Afghanistan.

The Active Denial System (ADS) is a non-lethal weapon designed to disperse violent crowds and repel enemies.

Lt. Col. John Dorrian, a US military spokesperson, says the kit is now in Afghanistan but no decision has yet been made on its use.

There's been much talk about the need to keep civilian casualties in Afghanistan to a minimum. The heat-ray gun could help.

Research is continuing to make the system smaller, lighter and less expensive, says the Pentagon's Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program.

Starting on January 1st in 2012, S federal law will require coin and bullion dealers to report to the Internal Revenue Service all gold and silver coin purchases and sales greater than $600.

Israeli troops attack photographers in West Bank

Two Palestinian news photographers were hospitalised on Saturday after being attacked by Israeli troops during a weekly protest in the occupied West Bank, one of them said.

An AFP photographer said a soldier hit him in the face and leg with a baton and that another photographer lost his hearing after a stun grenade exploded near his head.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Welcome to "normal" in the West Bank.

‘The world won’t say a thing’– Netanyahu on ongoing Israeli expansion

The Washington Post, and Glenn Kessler, have picked up the story that Netanyahu said that "America is a thing that can be easily moved," back in 2001. Good to have this knowledge inside the Beltway at last.

Scary' growth of gangs in war zones

Being in a street gang is now forbidden for members of the U.S. armed forces. But you might not guess that if you were to visit U.S. military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to soldiers who have recently served there.

Congress eventually banned members of the military from belonging to street gangs. And last November, the Defense Department added the ban to its rules.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just how many gang members were - or are currently in - the US military before the ban took effect just last November.

The Rot from Within: Character Disorders of the Republic

In reading a number of books on the destructive manipulative behavior of people with personality disorders I became increasingly struck by how the behavior of our politicians and our nation, especially with respect to foreign policy, was so precisely described.

The lesson from this study is not just sobering, but taken alongside the invincible tide of history – the collapse of every empire – the prognosis for our nation is bleak.

Obama Trying to Shift Oil Spill 'Off the Front Page,' Senator Says

Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter on Sunday accused President Obama of trying to move the BP oil disaster "off the front page," urging the public not to forget about the spill and the cleanup just because a new well cap seems to be working.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Well Cap is working to make it look like the problem is fixed, but it isn't. The leak has not been stopped; It has merely been moved.

Orwell's nightmare--big brother is here

A sampling of the major news stories today merely prove we are now living under the very tyranny about which Orwell warned and about which stalwart defenders of liberty such as Ayn Rand, Barry Goldwater, M. Stanton Evans, and Whitaker Chambers kept an ever-watchful eye.

Here are but a few troubling examples:

**The FCC and the FTC are now planning a government takeover of the news industry, complete with a tax on conservative radio and Internet websites in order to subsidize liberal media outlets that are losing revenue to the point of bankruptcy. This would effectively silence conservatives and give the mouthpieces of the Obama regime full control of the news. Does anyone care that Hitler and Stalin did the very same thing?

Netanyahu admits on video he deceived US to destroy Oslo accord

The contents of a secretly recorded video threaten to gravely embarrass not only Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister but also the US administration of Barack Obama.

Seated on a sofa in the house, he tells the family that he deceived the US president of the time, Bill Clinton, into believing he was helping implement the Oslo accords, the US-sponsored peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, by making minor withdrawals from the West Bank while actually entrenching the occupation. He boasts that he thereby destroyed the Oslo process.

Schwarzenegger mobilizes National Guard to border

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday mobilized members of the California National Guard as part of a federal effort to deter drug trafficking and illegal immigration along the border with Mexico.

His order supports President Barack Obama's plan to have 1,200 National Guard troops assist with federal border protection, customs and immigration agents.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If the governors of all border states stood up to the plate with similar mobilizations, perhaps the states would be able to do the job the Federal government is unwilling or unable to do.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, ABCNNBBCBS is trying to con America into thinking that the gulf disaster is over simply because the well head is capped. This propaganda is being put out because BP wants to limit their financial losses over this mess and Obama does not want the Gulf Disaster, which he caused by not reining in the MMS during the first 400 days of his Presidency, following him into the November election.

So what all of you Rivero's Rangers need to do is to grab this and every other video on YouTube that shows oil leaking up from the floor of the ocean and email the link to your friends and families and explain to them that BP and Thad Allen capped the well to get a pretty media picture knowing there was damage to the well casing 1000 feet down and that the oil would simply leak out there instead of the top.

Roads to Ruin: Towns Rip Up the Pavement

Paved roads, historical emblems of American achievement, are being torn up across rural America and replaced with gravel or other rough surfaces as counties struggle with tight budgets and dwindling state and federal revenue. State money for local roads was cut in many places amid budget shortfalls.

Webmaster's Commentary:

But your taxes go to build brand new roads for Jews only in the occupied Palestinian West Bank!

The US Government loots your lives to give to Israel! When will you recover your right to say "no?"

A founding principle of our nation is that the government rules with the consent of the governed. I do not consent to have our taxes go to build Jews-only roads in occupied Palestine while our own roads are allowed to crumble back to dirt and gravel.I rather expect that very few Americans (emphasis on 'Americans' would give their consent.

Fed's volte face sends the dollar tumbling

Usually the dollar serves as a safe haven whenever the world takes fright, and there was plenty of sobering news from China and other quarters on Thursday. Not this time. The US itself has become the problem.

"The worm is turning," said David Bloom, currency chief at HSBC. "We're in a world of rotating sovereign crises. The market seems to become obsessed with one idea at a time, then violently swings towards another. People thought the euro would break-up. Now we're moving into a new phase because we're hearing alarm bells of a US double dip."

U.S. Risks Military Clash With China In Yellow Sea

Delayed until after the United States achieved a United Nations Security Council statement on July 9 condemning the sinking of a South Korean warship in March, Washington’s plans for naval maneuvers in the Yellow Sea near Chinese territorial waters are forging ahead.

An exact date for the war games has not yet been announced, but is expected to be formalized no later than when U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates arrive in the South Korean capital of Seoul on July 21.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Remember; although the UN Security Council condemned the sinking of the South Korean ship, it did not assign any blame for that sinking to North Korea.

Rattling sabers is not a sound way to persuade China to get its recalcitrant client state, North Korea, back to the bargaining table.

These exercises appear to be engineered to ratchet up tensions in the region, rather than diffuse them.

Changing Stance, Administration Now Defends Insurance Mandate as a Tax

When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”

And that power, they say, is even more sweeping than the federal power to regulate interstate commerce.

Administration officials say the tax argument is a linchpin of their legal case in defense of the health care overhaul and its individual mandate, now being challenged in court by more than 20 states and several private organizations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This alleged "health care" bill was never about health care; it was only about extracting more tax dollars out of We the People, period, end of discussion.

Slaying the Debt Spider

Slaying the Debt Spider

By Chris Bollyn
July 17, 2010

The webs of deception and debt are controlled by an evil spider that is seldom seen.

"There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt."
- U.S. President John Adams

"Britain is the slave of an international financial bloc."
- British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, June 20, 1934

"If the American people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system, there would be a revolution before morning."

Even Imaginary Enemies Can Get Tired

For the last decade, America has been shuffling its entire military, including hundreds of thousands of private contractors, in and out of the Middle East on little more than a “snipe hunt.” Time for a reality check. Iraq never attacked the US. Reports say Al Qaeda may have fewer than 30 men in Afghanistan.

The Taliban has been asking for a cease fire for months. Turkey and Brazil negotiated a nuclear deal with Iran ending any possible threat, one we strangely, very strangely ignored. “Thermo-nuclear Israel’s” continual whining and manipulation is wearing thin. America’s economy, her Army and her suffering veterans demand an end to our Bush era phony war.

NATO: Whoring Itself To American Imperialism

Where the US claims its presence in Iraq and Afghanistan is only temporary the massive infrastructures established in these countries in the form of military bases belies this claim. They are not dispensing “Enduring Freedom” but an enduring presence and Afghanistan and Iraq are only the most recent franchises in a global network of over 700 US military bases.

Imperialism is a very expensive game and has left America the most indebted country in the world. It is fighting foreign wars with borrowed money on borrowed time. It then becomes necessary to defray the costs of this cretinous extravagance by coercing allies, namely NATO, into being the whores of US imperialism all too willing to cough up cash and lives in a sorely corrupted cause for despicable motives.

KBR Wins $35M Pentagon Contract Despite Criminal Probe Into Electrocution Deaths

Defense contractor KBR Inc. has been awarded a $35 million Pentagon contract involving major electrical work, even as it is under criminal investigation in the electrocution deaths of at least two U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

The announcement of the new KBR contract came just months after the Pentagon, in strongly worded correspondence obtained by The Associated Press, rejected the company's explanation of serious mistakes in Iraq and its proposed improvements. A senior Pentagon official, David J. Graff, cited the company's "continuing quality deficiencies" and said KBR executives were "not sufficiently in touch with the urgency or realities of what was actually occurring on the ground."

Methane Thought To Be Responsible For Mass Extinction

What caused the worst mass extinction in Earth's history 251 million years ago? An asteroid or comet colliding with Earth? A greenhouse effect? Volcanic eruptions in Siberia? Or an entirely different culprit? A Northwestern University chemical engineer believes the culprit may be an enormous explosion of methane (natural gas) erupting from the ocean depths.

More Dollars to Israel as Settlements Grow

The United States will give Israel the largest "security package" ever, according to its Assistant Secretary of State Andrew Shapiro on July 16. Shapiro said the security aid package would be "the most extensive in history", elaborating that in 2010, the administration requested from Congress $2,775 billion in security assistance funding specifically for Israel. According to its own rationale, the US says this boost in money to Israel's security would help to advance the peace process with the Palestinians.
