60 Minutes' Lara Logan slams the 'mostly liberal' media for its coverage of Trump which she calls a 'distortion' of real life, as the award-winning CBS journalist admits she is 'committing professional suicide'

Famed 60 Minutes correspondent Lara Logan has broken ranks with mainstream media, claiming news outlets are now 'mostly liberal' and have become ‘propagandists’ while covering President Trump.

The South African-born foreign affairs journalist said that most of the American press is biased against Trump because journalists are overwhelmingly Democrats.

‘You say the media is mostly liberal,’ Logan told Mike Ritland on his Mike Drop podcast.

‘I agree with you. It’s true. Why can I say that with certainty?

‘Well first of all I’ve been part of this for all my life, I’m 47 now and I’ve been a journalist since I was 17 and the media everywhere is mostly liberal not just in the U.S, but in this country 85 percent of journalists are registered Democrats so that’s just a fact.’

Venezuela Pins Responsibility for Any Breach of Peace on Trump

Venezuela assigns the responsibility for any possible disturbance of peace in the country on the United States and its President Donald Trump, the Venezuelan government said in a statement.
"Venezuela demands the immediate cessation of all unilateral violent actions against it, which constitute the illegal and criminal blockade of the Venezuelan people, and at the same time declares to the international community that the US chauvinistic government and its president will be responsible for any violation of peace in Venezuela," the statement issued on Monday and published on Twitter noted, Sputnik reported.

According to the Venezuelan authorities, Trump is trying to give direct orders to Venezuelan military on rejecting the country's constitution.

Trump, Kim and the war that 'ended' six decades ago

Song Jin-won was in middle school when the Korean War broke out in 1950.
***
As United States President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un prepare to meet in Vietnam for high-stakes and complex nuclear negotiations, war veterans, including Song, hope the summit will also act as a big step towards officially ending the Korean War.

The two Koreas are technically still at war as the hostilities stopped in 1953 with a truce signed by the US, representing United Nations forces, and the militaries of North Korea and China. The armistice agreement - adhered to but not signed by South Korea, whose leaders at the time rejected the idea of a ceasefire that left the peninsula divided - fell short of a peace treaty that has governed the conflict ever since.

In April, Kim became the first North Korean leader to cross the border since the end of the fighting decades ago for talks with South Korean President Moon Jae-In.

How the US Coup in Venezuela Is Taking Root in Haiti and the Dominican Republic

For more than a decade Venezuela has aided the governments of Haiti and the Dominican Republic through a preferential system known as Petrocaribe, and the people of those nations are not taking their governments’ support for the US coup in Venezuela lightly.<>
***
For more than a decade Venezuela has aided the governments of Haiti and the Dominican Republic through a preferential system known as Petrocaribe, which provided subsidized crude oil prices to meet the countries critical energy demands. The Petrocaribe oil agreement, allowed for governments to pay only 60 percent of the oil shipments they purchase from Venezuela. The remaining 40 percent could be financed over 25 years at 1 percent interest, as long as oil prices stayed above $40 per barrel. This allowed for tremendous savings, and money that according to the agreement) was supposed to be used for socially beneficial purposes.

Countries such as Nicaragua, Jamaica, Cuba, and many islands in the eastern Caribbean have successfully utilized Petrocaribe funds and other Venezuelan support mechanisms, investing in vital infrastructure, education, healthcare, and have used the funding to avoid austerity deals with the IMF and other international financial institutions. Corrupt politicians in Hispaniola, though, whose regimes are closely aligned with Washington, have by contrast become well-known for robbing many of the funds meant for the social needs of their population.

Trump Rips Obama, Says Having a Dog In the White House Would Feel “Phony”

Donald Trump is the first president not to have a pet dog in the White House in well over a century.

When the president held a rally in El Paso, Texas, Monday night, he talked about why.

“I wouldn’t mind having one, honestly, but I don’t have any time,” Trump said. “How would I look walking a dog on the White House lawn? Would that be right? It doesn’t.”

“It feels a little phony to me,” Trump added.

Was this a dig at Barack Obama?

Will Yemen Be Trump’s First Veto?

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives issued a stinging rebuke of the White House’s holding pattern in support of the Saudi coalition in Yemen. The vote was the culmination of multiple years of efforts by realists on Capitol Hill and their allies. House Joint Resolution 37 demands the removal U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities in or affecting Yemen within a month unless: Congress authorizes a later date, or issues a declaration of war, or specifically authorizes military force. The vote was not close: 248-177.

“The vote today is a step toward more sensible U.S. policy in Yemen and the Middle East, a welcome admonishment of Saudi Arabia, and an overdue assertion of nearly-dormant war powers. In each of those senses, though, more is needed,” says Benjamin H. Friedman of Defense Priorities.

US mobilizes allies to blame Russia for dismantling INF Treaty - Lavrov

Washington takes unscrupulous steps mobilizing its allies to put the blame for dismantling the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) on Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters in Munich on Saturday.

"Back in October, US officials told us that President [Donald] Trump announced a withdrawal from the treaty. It is not an invitation for dialogue but a final decision," Lavrov said.

"Afterwards, it has not been very scrupulous to mobilize allies in order to blame us for dismantling this crucial agreement," he said.

Lavrov said that Moscow has no doubts that Washington warned NATO officials against attending a briefing organized by the Russian Foreign and Defense Ministries on the 9M729 cruise missile.

Two Trump Cabinet Officials Were "Ready To Support" 25th Amendment 'Coup' As Rosenstein Tallied Votes

Two Trump Cabinet officials were "ready to support" a DOJ scheme to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump, according to Bloomberg and Fox News, citing closed-door testimony from the FBI's former top lawyer, James Baker - who said that the claim came from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The testimony was delivered last fall to the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees. Fox News has confirmed portions of the transcript. It provides additional insight into discussions that have returned to the spotlight in Washington as fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe revisits the matter during interviews promoting his forthcoming book. -Fox News

While Baker did not identify the two Cabinet officials, he says that McCabe and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page approached him to relay their conversations with Rosenstein, including their discussions of the 25th Amendment scheme.

TRUMP Calls for Investigation into Rigged, Liberal Channels That Constantly Spew Hatred at Republicans

Last night, “Saturday Night Live” opened with another anti-Trump skit with Alec Baldwin impersonating Trump’s Rose Garden presser where he announced he was declaring a national emergency to secure funding for the southern border.

Alec Baldwin called the national emergency “fake” and mocked the drug and opioid crisis gripping the nation due to porous borders.

“You all see why I gotta fake this emergency, right? I have to because I want to. It’s really simple. We have a problem. Drugs are coming into this country through no wall,” Baldwin said.

Baldwin continued: “Wall works, wall makes safe. You don’t have to be smart to understand that, in fact it’s even easier to understand if you’re not that smart.”

The anti-Trump skits by Alec Baldwin are old and tired, but the ‘get Trump’ media won’t stop until the president is removed from office.

Warsaw, Poland is not a fun place to visit in darkest February, but that is where the US just staged an anti-Iranian jamboree of 60 client states that brought derision and scorn from Europeans and much of the Mideast.

Venezuelan congressional chief and self-appointed interim president, Juan Guaido, must be acknowledged as such by the European Union, according to the US vice president.

In an "uncharacteristically passionate speech," Merkel condemned the recent unilateral moves made by the United States — without naming the nation — The New York Times report reads.

US Vice President Mike Pence went full throttle in Munich as he rolled out a list of Washington's demands to the EU, clashing with Germany's Angela Merkel and Brussels' Federica Mogherini on Iran and Russia.

EU nations must "stop undermining US sanctions" against Iran, Pence told the audience at the annual Munich Security Conference on Saturday, urging European allies to follow the American lead in ditching the deal on the Iranian nuclear program.

He had earlier blasted EU countries for not being "cooperative" with Washington's push to pressure Iran. The US unilaterally pulled out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) last year, citing mistrust towards the Islamic Republic and accusing it of threatening global security. Iran denied the allegations, while Washington's move was condemned by the EU, China and Russia.

Trump’s Iran Summit Shows Just How Far He Is From The Rest Of The West

Does Mike Pompeo realise what a foolish figure he cuts as he shambles around Europe, spouting risible tosh about Donald Trump’s commitment to a “new liberal order” and America as “force for good” in the Middle East? It seems he does not. Pompeo is a former soldier, Tea Party Republican, hawkish CIA chief and enthusiastic torture advocate who complained in 2013 that Guantanamo Bay inmates on hunger strike had “put on weight”. Self-awareness is not really his thing.

Whatever else he is, Pompeo is plainly no diplomat. Yet thanks to Trump, his job since April last year is US secretary of state, arguably the world’s most influential diplomatic post. It’s a role previously held by such towering figures as James Monroe, John Foster Dulles and George Shultz. By comparison, Pompeo is a political pufferfish floundering out of his depth. His latest self-inflicted embarrassment is Wednesday’s conference in Warsaw, envisaged (by him) as an international rally to put pressure on Iran.

US Senate & House approve spending & border security bill to avert gov’t shutdown

Both houses of the US Congress have passed a spending and border security bill, dodging a new government shutdown. Lacking the funds for President Trump’s border wall, the bill opens the door to him declaring a national emergency.

Passed by both the Republican-controlled Senate and Democrat-controlled House, the bill now moves to the White House. While Trump is expected to sign it, the president has made it clear he will declare a national emergency to get the funding for his wall. The bill provides just $1.375 for fencing at the US-Mexico border, a far cry from the $5.7 billion Trump requested.

Here’s How Trump Plans to Get His $8 Billion For the Wall

President Trump is preparing to make a national emergency declaration that could allow him to spend up to $8 billion to construct a barrier at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Thursday that the President would both sign the recently approved budget compromise and declare the national emergency.

“I just had an opportunity to speak with President Trump and he’s prepared to sign the bill,” McConnell said. “He will also be signing a national emergency declaration at the same time.”

That move will reportedly free up the $8 billion Trump could then use to construct his wall. Where will he get that money?

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem is that the spending bill has provisions in it to allow state and county governments along the border to refuse construction of the wall. Trump should read that bill thoroughly before he signs it.

German Ex-Air Force General: 'US Betrayed European Security'

A former head of NATO’s Military Committee has slammed the US move against the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) as “extremely dangerous” for Europe. This comes after Washington had suspended its obligations under the agreement that ended the arms race between the East and West back in the 1980s.

Former head of the NATO Military Committee and retired Air Force general Harald Kujat has sharply criticised the US for terminating the INF Treaty calling the move “a betrayal of the security of the European allies" in an interview with the Bavarian broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk.

According to the retired commander, the withdrawal from the treaty that ended the nuclear arms race back in 1987 means that the US is saying goodbye to responsibilities to its European allies. This move could be extremely dangerous for Europe, Kujat stated.

Is Tulsi Gabbard for Real? America Is Ready for a Genuine Peace Candidate

The most interesting candidate is undoubtedly Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who is a fourth term Congresswoman from Hawaii, where she was born and raised. She is also the real deal on national security, having been-there and done-it through service as an officer with the Hawaiian National Guard on a combat deployment in Iraq. Though in Congress full time, she still performs her Guard duty.

Tulsi’s own military experience notwithstanding, she gives every indication of being honestly anti-war. In the speech announcing her candidacy, she pledged “focus on the issue of war and peace” to “end the regime-change wars that have taken far too many lives and undermined our security by strengthening terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda.” She referred to the danger posed by blundering into a possible nuclear war and indicated her dismay over what appears to be a re-emergence of the Cold War.

What is a national emergency? What will happen once it's declared?

US federal law gives a number of powers to the president to use in response to a "crisis, exigency, or emergency circumstances threatening the nation", a document prepared for Congress states. He can do so at will.

Declaring a national emergency allows the president to meet the problems of "governing effectively" in times of crisis. They also allow the president to "seize property, organise and control the means of production, seize commodities, assign military forces abroad, institute martial law, seize and control all transportation and communication, regulate the operation of private enterprise, restrict travel, and, in a variety of ways, control the lives of United States citizens," the document states.

Declaring a national emergency is a rare step. In this case, it would allow Trump to redirect federal funds from elsewhere to pay for his border wall.

Trump Puts Best Face on Border Deal, as Aides Try to Assuage an Angry Right

In pursuit of a wall, President Trump ran into one. A single-minded drive to force Congress to finance his signature campaign promise has left Mr. Trump right back where he started, this time seeking a way to climb over the political barrier in his way after trying to charge through it did not work.

As he inched closer to reluctantly accepting a bipartisan spending compromise without the money he demanded for his border wall, Mr. Trump offered no acknowledgment on Wednesday that his pressure tactics had failed even as aides sought to minimize the damage by tamping down criticism on the right.

One call was made to Lou Dobbs, a favorite of Mr. Trump’s whose Fox Business Network show he often tries to catch live. Another was placed to Sean Hannity, the Fox host who regularly talks with the president. The message: Mr. Trump deserved support because he still forced concessions that he would never have gotten without a five-week partial government shutdown.

DOJ Considered Recruiting Mike Pence to Remove Trump from Office

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe just dropped a bombshell revelation in his new book: the DOJ talked about recruiting Mike Pence to remove Trump from the presidency.

The Department of Justice reportedly held meetings discussing the possibility of having Mike Pence replace Trump as the president, justifying the de facto coup by invoking the 25th Amendment.

The discussions reportedly occurred following James Comey’s unceremonious ousting as director of the FBI. Rod Rosenstein, the current Deputy Attorney General, was a part of these discussions. It was reported last year that Rosenstein actually suggested removing Trump via the 25th Amemdment, comments he later described as not serious.

The International Court of Justice rules Iran has legal claim to $2bn in assets frozen by US

Tehran says it owns $2bn in frozen assets, but US court ruled cash must be given to victims of attacks blamed on Iran.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ruled that Iran has the right to recover two billion dollars in frozen assets in the United States.

In a ruling issued on Wednesday, the 15-member court in The Hague said Tehran can proceed with a bid to recover the assets, which Washington says must go to victims of attacks blamed on Iran.

Trump repeatedly suggested Venezuela invasion, stunning top aides – report

Donald Trump repeatedly raised the possibility of invading Venezuela in talks with his top aides at the White House, according to a new report.

Trump brought up the subject of an invasion in public in August last year, saying: “We have many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option, if necessary.” But the president’s musings about the possibility of a US invasion were more extensive and persistent than that public declaration, according to the Associated Press.

The previous day Trump reportedly took his top officials by surprise in an Oval Office meeting, asking why the US could not intervene to remove the government of Nicolás Maduro on the grounds that Venezuela’s political and economic unraveling represented a threat to the region.

Andrew Cuomo Demands White House Meeting on Tax Reform, Trump Turns It Into Lecture on Abortion

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo requested a meeting with President Trump over tax reform that he claims is hurting his state’s revenue, but it quickly turned into a lecture on fracking and late-term abortion.

The meeting, which Law 360 described as “Cuomo return(ing) empty-handed,” did not go as planned by the extremist Democrat. The sole intent of the meeting was to discuss a$10,000 cap on federal deduction for state and local taxes (SALT). Cuomo is citing the provision for a drop in over $2 billion in tax revenue.

“I told the president myself today: SALT repeal is hurting us. And if you hurt New York, you’re harming the economic engine of the nation,” he bragged after the meeting.

White House notes suggest a different story. While the President and Cuomo did discuss the matter, Trump turned the tables and reminded the Governor that exorbitantly high taxes in his state might actually be the problem.

Cuomo criticized Omar’s tweets and called the question whether House Democrats should do more to punish the freshman congresswoman a “legit question.” He then dismissed the “futile” comparison of her remarks versus King’s, who was stripped from his committees after he defended the terms “white supremacist” and “white nationalist.”

Hands off ‘our hemisphere’ or Venezuela pays the price: US Senator warns Russia

This is pathetic. Without Venezuela and their gold the district of criminals is finished!

The US staked a claim on half the world, as Senate Armed Services Committee chair Jim Inhofe said Washington might have to intervene in Venezuela if Russia dares set up a military base not just there, but “in our hemisphere.”
“I think that it could happen,” Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) told a group of reporters on Tuesday. “You’ve got a guy down there that is killing everybody. You could have him put together a base that Russia would have on our hemisphere. And if those things happen, it may be to the point where we’ll have to intervene with troops and respond.”

ICJ to rule on Iran's legal claim to recover $2bn frozen in US

Tehran says it owns $2bn in frozen assets, but US court ruled cash must be given to victims of attacks blamed on Iran.

On Wednesday, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is set to decide reach a verdict on a bid by Iran to recover $2bn in frozen assets that the United States says must be paid to victims of attacks it blamed on Tehran.

The ruling threatens to further escalate the dispute between the two former allies and comes after a decision in October when the same court ordered the US to lift sanctions on humanitarian goods for Iran.

Tensions between Tehran and Washington are already high around the anniversary of the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Republic revolution as well as Wednesday's Middle East summit in Poland, which observers say is aimed at isolating Iran.

Trump Calls on Rep. Ilhan Omar to Resign Over Anti-Semitic Tweets

President Donald Trump slammed Rep. Ilhan Omar’s apology for publishing anti-Semitic tweets, saying it was “lame” and called on her to resign from Congress.

Omar went on an anti-Semitic twitter rant over the weekend, prompting a backlash from prominent politicians on both sides of the political aisle. She used a stereotype about Jews being motivated by money, then accused a prominent lobbying group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), of paying members of Congress to support Israel.

Upon getting heat from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over the remarks, Omar issued an apology that amounted to ‘sorry, not sorry.’

Adam Schiff Is Trying To Delegitimize Trump by Investigating His Finances

On a Sunday morning talk show, Rep. Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, vowed to continue investigating President Trump’s finances and foreign connections for as long as it takes.

So, let me get this right: Hillary Clinton, a politician, or to be more specific, a former secretary of State, can sell the Russians our uranium but Donald Trump, a businessman, cannot conduct business in a foreign country, like any other American entrepreneur?

It is evident that the left will not be satisfied until Trump is gone. They must be worried he will win in 2020. How anyone can not see their motivation for launching intensive investigation after investigation is beyond me.

Making Globalism Great Again - Did Trump Fold To The Deep State?

Maybe Donald Trump isn’t as stupid as I thought. I’d hate to have to admit that publicly, but it does kind of seem like he has put one over on the liberal corporate media this time. Scanning the recent Trump-related news, I couldn’t help but notice a significant decline in the number of references to Weimar, Germany, Adolf Hitler, and “the brink of fascism” that America has supposedly been teetering on since Hillary Clinton lost the election. I googled around pretty well, I think, but I couldn’t find a single editorial warning that Trump is about to summarily cancel the U.S. Constitution, dissolve Congress, and proclaim himself Führer. Nor did I see any mention of Auschwitz, or any other Nazi stuff … which is weird, considering that the Hitler hysteria has been a standard feature of the official narrative we’ve been subjected to for the last two years.

Tehran 'Will Raze Tel Aviv, Haifa' if US Attacks - Iranian Islamic Guard Comdr.

On Monday, hundreds of thousands of Iranians held nation-wide rallies to mark the 40th anniversary of the fall of the Shah and the triumph of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the Shiite cleric who led an Islamic Revolution that rattles the West to this day.

Tehran "will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa" to the ground if Washington attacks Iran, the IRNA news agency cited an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander as saying on Monday.

"The United States does not have the courage to shoot a single bullet at us despite all its defensive and military assets. But if they attack us, we will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground," Yadollah Javani, the Guards' deputy head for political affairs said during a rally celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Islamic revolution.
