UNIVERSITY STATISTICIAN SUING GOVERNMENT OVER ALLEGED RAMPANT VOTER FRAUD

During every election cycle, politicians, the media, and citizens alike sing the praises of democracy and the power of the “vote.” The ritual is often lauded as the pinnacle of human achievement — assurance that politicians carry out the people’s wishes. In Kansas, however, a statistician from Wichita State University has filed an open records lawsuit to investigate what she worries may be evidence of voter fraud. Tellingly, since she initially filed the suit in April, authorities have attempted to block her request for voter records.

Western Democracy Is An Endangered Species On Its Way To Extinction

The British Labour Party no longer represents the working class. Under UK prime minister Tony Blair, the Labour Party became a vassal of the One Percent. The result has been a rebellion in the ranks and the rise of Jeremy Corbyn, a principled Labourite intent on representing the people, a no-no in Western “democracies.”

Corbyn is too real for the Labour Party Blairites, who hope to be rewarded with similar nest eggs as Blair for representing the capitalist One Percent. So what is the corrupted Labour Party doing to prevent Corbyn’s election?

Jeb Bush’s Risky Plan to Take on Donald Trump

The New York Times reports that Bush's plan is to repeatedly counterrattack Trump "with force and creativity" in the coming weeks. But unlike Trump, Bush is not a master of insults. On Monday he called Trump's immigration plan "unrealistic" and suggested "he might want to read my book, Immigration Wars, which I published four years ago." He also released an ad on Monday that highlights conservative opposition to Trump's immigration plan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbSdfLD7gH8

"He is doing so poorly in the polls that he is now starting to spend some of the money that his ‘bosses,’ special interests and lobbyists have given him to attack me," Trump added in a statement on Monday.

Virginia Finally Drops America's 'Worst Voting Machines'

IF YOU VOTED in a Virginia election any time between 2003 and April of this year, your vote was at serious risk of being compromised by hackers.

That’s the assessment reached by Virginia’s board of elections, which recently decertified some 3,000 WINVote touchscreen voting machines after learning about security problems with the systems, including a poorly secured Wi-Fi feature for tallying votes.

The problems with the machines are so severe that Jeremy Epstein, a computer scientist with SRI International who tried for years to get them banned, called them the worst voting machines in the country. If the WINVote systems weren’t hacked in a past election, he noted in a recent blog post and during a presentation last week at the USENIX security conference, “it was only because no one tried.”

Breaking: Trump Picks Netanyahu as Running Mate for 2016

The Israeli Daily got wind of this dramatic political development after Trump’s limo driver leaked the information while fooling around with Israeli tourists outside of Trump Tower in Manhattan.

Sources close to the Prime Minister revealed he was given the unexpected nod through third party ‘back-channel negotiators’. He remarked to inner, inner-circle staff member, Sarah Netanyahu, “What chutzpah! Choosing a running mate before being nominated. What is he? Israeli?”

Opposition leaders in the Israeli government believe Bibi accepted The Donald’s invitation purely as a plan B strategy. Backup insurance in case his hawkish coalition government turns to shit.

Flashback: Voting Machines Can Be Hacked With $26 and an 8th Grade Education

Did you know that for just $26 and an 8th-grade education you can hack a voting machine? This has actually been common knowledge for years, since a study at the Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois developed a hack to manipulate voting machines just before the 2012 elections.

The researchers who developed the hack were actually able to hijack a Diebold Accuvote TS electronic voting machine, one of the most popular voting systems at the time.

Two of the lead researchers in the study were able to demonstrate a number of different ways that voting machines could be hacked. They used a $1.29 microprocessor and a circuit board that costs about $8, along with a $15 remote control.

They demonstrated that the cheap hack worked from over a half-mile away.

Nobody wants to see Jeb Bush win the nomination

How can between 87 and 93 percent of the Republican electorate be wrong?

After the Fox debate, the RINO-industrial complex hit Donald Trump with everything but the kitchen sink. And yet, after a nearly weeklong barrage, Juan Ellis Bush can’t get beyond 13 percent in the latest New Hampshire poll.

One of the world's largest ATM manufacturers and, formerly, one of the largest manufacturers of electronic voting systems, has been indicted by federal prosecutors for bribery and falsification of documents.

The charges represent only the latest in a long series of criminal and/or unethical misconduct by Diebold, Inc. and their executives over the past decade.

Internet search engines may be influencing elections

Biased search results increased the number of undecided voters choosing the favored candidate by 48% compared with a control group that saw an equal mix of both candidates throughout the list. Very few subjects noticed they were being manipulated, but those who did were actually more likely to vote in line with the biased results. “We expect the search engine to be making wise choices,” Epstein says. “What they’re saying is, ‘Well yes, I see the bias and that’s telling me … the search engine is doing its job.’”

...

“In a two-person race, a candidate can only count on getting half of the uncommitted votes, which is worthless. With the help of biased search rankings, a candidate might be able to get 90% of the uncommitted votes [in select demographics],” Epstein explains.

...

Presumably Google isn’t intentionally tweaking its algorithms to favor certain presidential candidates, but Epstein says it would extremely difficult to tell if it were.

A mathematician may have uncovered widespread election fraud, and Kansas is trying to silence her

Analyzing election returns at a precinct level, Clarkson found that candidate support was correlated, to a statistically significant degree, with the size of the precinct. In Republican primaries, the bias has been toward the establishment candidates over tea partiers. In general elections, it has favored Republican candidates over Democrats, even when the demographics of the precincts in question suggested that the opposite should have been true.

The Imperial Designs on Iran

So what is the Obama administration really up to in Iran? What sort of strategic calculations have led to what for the moment looks like a tactical geopolitical shift?

President Obama certainly concluded that the 36-year-long Wall of Mistrust against Iran was bound to fail. The real Masters of the Universe in Washington – those who control the deep state – always knew that the “nuclear weapons” hysteria was bogus. That was part of a strategic decision to keep the Islamic Republic isolated from the West as long as possible, and ultimately force regime change.

Why Jeb Bush once thought it was cool to shame single moms

For presidential candidates, 'tis the season of the oppo dump. Or perhaps the season of the background check, as campaigns feed unpleasant information about their opponents to reporters, and reporters take their own initiative to fill out a picture of who these candidates really are. Inevitably, the candidates wind up having to defend things they said or did in years past that from today's standpoint seem anachronistic or even appalling.

So it was with Jeb Bush, who turns out to have written a 1995 book called Profiles In Character that lamented the decline of public shaming as a tool of policymaking.

Home / UK / ‘BBC bias’: EU referendum coverage to be independently monitored by watchdog

The BBC could be legally compelled to remain impartial throughout Britain’s EU referendum campaign, following new broadcast regulations tabled by backbench MPs.

Backbench Tory MPs including Bill Cash, John Redwood, Peter Bone and Christopher Chope are calling for the majority Conservative government to appoint an impartial adjudicator to rule on cases of alleged broadcasting bias throughout the campaign.

The newly formed watchdog would monitor all broadcast output throughout the campaign in the run-up to the in/out referendum, the Telegraph reported on Wednesday.

Hillary's plans to stuff the ballot box

Since Hillary won’t have the youthful exuberance that propelled Obama to his unlikely double victory, she plans to build a whole new electorate out of people who didn’t vote for Obama. That’s the gist of her speech in Houston last week, which her friends at MSNBC called a “far-reaching vision for expanding access to the ballot box.”

Who are the new voters to whom Hillary wants to give “access to the ballot box”? They include felons and non-citizens, along with anyone who can’t prove identity, citizenship, or residence within the voting precinct.

She also plans to harvest millions of new votes by expanding the dangerous practices of same-day registration and early voting, which enable Democrats to badger, berate, bribe, or bamboozle reluctant low-information voters to the polls. Democratic Party and union workers can identify reluctant voters and harass them until the party worker verifies that they have actually cast their ballot.

Hillary Goes Right for Bush's Gut in Voting Rights Speech

he speech that Hillary Rodham Clinton gave at Texas Southern University on Thursday regarding the right to vote even was better than I expected it to be. It was a thwacking, name-checking jeremiad that took for granted the obvious fact that the Republican party, and the conservative movement that is its only real energizing force, has embarked on a systematic campaign to disenfranchise those voters unlikely to vote for Republican candidates, and that the campaign has been abetted at the highest levels of conservative politics which, in this case, happen to include the Supreme Court of the United States. She talked about how Rick Perry had worked to restrict the franchise in Texas, and how Scott Walker had done so in Wisconsin. Then, she said this.

"And in Florida, when Jeb Bush was governor, state officials conducted a deeply flawed purge of voters before the presidential election of 2000."

Yeah, she went there.

Next year, many Americans will be preparing themselves to go vote at the next presidential election, which is scheduled for November 8, 2016. If you are planning to go vote during that time, you should read this article before doing so.

Proof That the United States of America (Minor) is a Foreign Corporation

If you want proof that the United States of America is a corporation, look at line 15 and 15(A) in title 28 U.S. Code § 3002 and you should see this sentence, ““United States” means— (A) a Federal corporation.”

On the question of whether Clinton can run and win a return to the White House as an unabashed liberal, enthusiasm of black voters is a paramount consideration. But alas, she is not running a real campaign. She is instead running something more akin to a legal defense or corporate PR after an oil spill.

The Hegelian Dialectic is a philosophical approach that in principle explains how human beings progress toward a better and more egalitarian condition but in practice provides the power elite with a strategy for controlling society.

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (August 27, 1770 -- November 14, 1831) was among the most consequential philosophers of the Age of Enlightenment. His was heavily influenced by Plato, whose social ideal was rule by an elite composed of philosopher-kings. Though Hegel may not have intended to provide a Platonic methodology for the modern-day control of the many by the few, that is how his insights have been used.

“From our family, we didn’t inherit fame or fortune, what we inherited was the belief that if you work hard and you play by the rules you can do and be anything you want,” he said.

“National security is something you read about in the newspaper; safety is something you feel,” he said. “It’s something that — even though as a governor I don’t deal with it day in and day out — it has increasingly become one of the most important things for me to focus in on, because when I think about safety, I think about my own children and I think about yours as well.”

New Missouri Mayor Barred from Entering Office; Voter Fraud Alleged

McCray is in trouble with the Board because of allegations that her election was marred by voter fraud. The new mayor won the April 7 election with 38 votes to her main opponent’s 18. The city of Kinloch has fewer than 300 residents and, as the Post-Dispatch noted, it is “marked by pilfered coffers, shady land deals and increasingly bitter fights over the last remnants of political power.”

More details on the alleged fraud, via the Post-Dispatch:

According to documents obtained… the city has raised concerns to the St. Louis County Board of Elections and the Missouri Secretary of State about people being registered to vote in Kinloch who no longer live there. On April 2, the city gave the Election Board a list of 27 names of people who it claimed were illegally registered; many of those individual addresses were listed at city-owned apartments.

In Chicago, Reports of Voters Receiving Ballots Already Marked for Emanuel

Around 10:30 this morning, Sam Dreessen, a 26-year-old unemployed DePaul University graduate (and former In These Times intern) who’s been voting in Chicago since 2006, walked into his polling place at Kozminski Community Academy on 54th and Drexel, a mostly black neighborhood in the city’s 5th Ward. He approached the election judge at the table and, like thousands of Chicagoans on this mayoral election day, received a paper ballot and a felt-tip pen. But, he says, one of the two blanks—the one you fill in to vote for Mayor Rahm Emanuel—was already filled in. Dreessen, a volunteer for Emanuel’s opponent, Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, smelled a rat.

Cobb also fielded a report from a person voting on an electronic machine that tried to register a vote for Emanuel every time she punched in a vote for Garcia.

I have’t been yet been able to turn up any reports of irregularities favoring Chuy Garcia.

Jeb Bush is stretching the limits of campaign finance law

Jeb Bush hasn't yet said that he's running for president, and he's in no rush to do so. Because, as long as he's not a candidate, he'll have an easier time raising the money he thinks his operation will need.

By not making his bid official, Bush can ask for unlimited money for his Super PAC and coordinate with the aides who will run that Super PAC directly
***
Bush has given his "tacit endorsement" to a new nonprofit group that will effectively serve as his policy shop — and will be able to keep its donors secret.

If this works, secret money nonprofits could become the new normal for presidential campaigns
