Day of reckoning: A wave of fresh accusations against priests has been unleashed

After decades of anguish and argument over sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church, a final reckoning may be coming for New York parishioners.

Over the last quarter century, sexual abuse allegations, some of them horrendous, have been lodged in fits and starts against more than 400 priests and others associated with the church in New York state. The church hierarchy has been accused of concealing the truth about sexual misconduct as well.

But the number of past accusations and admissions pale in comparison to what's happening today, and what will happen in the months ahead. The Democrat and Chronicle has found this confluence of events:

Evangelicals Unwittingly Pushing America Toward Atheism And Paganism

The influence of America’s evangelical churches has been in steep decline ever since the two administrations of professed evangelical Christian President George W. Bush at the beginning of this century. Again and again on my radio talk show and in this column, I tried to warn Christians about the way the Bush presidency was distorting Christ’s teaching and how millions of our countrymen were being turned off to Christianity as a result. For the most part, of course, my appeals fell on deaf ears. But I Pollyannaishly thought we had seen the worst of it with Bush. Boy was I wrong! Donald Trump has taken up where Bush left off—in spades.

Vatican summit organizer: Gay subculture in seminaries has ‘nothing to do with sex abuse of minors’

Decades of widespread homosexuality in US seminaries had “nothing to do with the sexual abuse of minors,” a key organizer of the Vatican abuse summit said on Friday.

At today’s summit press briefing, LifeSite asked Archbishop Charles Scicluna of Malta, adjunct secretary for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and papal appointee to the summit’s organizing committee, a follow-up to a question posed yesterday by Italian journalist Sandro Magister.

‘Who needs religion like that?’ Catholic Church will be gone in 25 years, Duterte says

In a fiery, profanity-ridden tirade, outspoken Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte lashed out at the Roman Catholic Church, saying it will not survive long with all the controversies brewing around its clergy.

“This Catholic [Church] will disappear. In almost 25 years, it will disappear. No more, people will forget it,” Duterte said on Monday.

Speaking at a public event in the nation’s capital, Manila, the Philippines leader warned that the church will meet its demise as a result of the string of sexual abuse cases and corruption within its ranks. “People won’t forget the ways of Catholic clergy,” he said.

SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: How a Vatican portrait of child sex abuser Cardinal Pell links him to an ancient Catholic order frequented by British high society

It has suddenly become the most embarrassing painting in the Vatican. But the portrait of Cardinal Pell — unveiled in the Vatican just two and a half years ago — now threatens to engulf one of the oldest and grandest Catholic orders in controversy.

For I can disclose that the portrait of 77-year-old Pell, who has just been convicted of historic sex offences, was commissioned following a fundraising event in London held by the Knights of Malta, the Roman Catholic order founded more than 1,000 years ago to care for the poor and the sick.

The order’s senior officers have included some of the most eminent figures in society, including Field Marshal Lord Guthrie and the late Hugh van Cutsem, one of the Prince of Wales’s close friends.

JANET STREET-PORTER: Pope Francis has proved that the Catholic Church is totally incapable of tackling the stomach-churning sexual and financial abuses that are rotting it from the inside out

When Pope Francis was elected he won our hearts when he washed the feet of beggars, chose to live in a simple hostel rather than sumptuous Papal apartments, and opted for a second-hand car - a far cry from his predecessor who wore beautiful hand made slippers costing thousands of pounds.

We wanted Pope Francis to signal a new set of values for the Catholic Church, but sadly that has not turned out to be the case.

Six years on, Francis has just hosted the first Papal conference into sexual abuse, and at the end of four days, you might well ask - why did he bother?

George Pell: Cardinal found guilty of sexual offences in Australia

Cardinal George Pell has been found guilty in Australia of sexual offences against children, making him the highest-ranking Catholic figure to receive such a conviction.

Pell abused two choir boys in Melbourne's cathedral in 1996, a jury found. He had pleaded not guilty.

As Vatican treasurer, the 77-year-old Australian was widely seen as the Church's third most powerful official.

Pell, due to face sentencing hearings from Wednesday, has lodged an appeal.

His trial was heard twice last year because a first jury failed to reach a verdict. A second jury unanimously convicted him of one charge of sexually penetrating a child under 16, and four counts of committing an indecent act on a child under 16.

O’Malley wants Vatican report on who knew what about McCarrick

Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston wants to see a report from the Vatican detailing who knew what and when about Theodore McCarrick, once among the most influential men of the Church in the United States - and, as of last Saturday, an ex-priest found guilty of sexual sins with both minors and adults.

O’Malley said he believes that report will include information sent to the Holy See by the four dioceses where McCarrick served, meaning New York, Metuchen, Newark and Washington, D.C.

Vatican Sex Abuse Summit Dodges Homosexuality Issue

The Vatican’s summit on clerical sex abuse ended Sunday without ever confronting the strong statistical links between homosexuality and priestly abuse, confirming warnings from a number of prelates.

Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich, one of the summit’s organizers and a defender of gay priests, denied any relationship between homosexuality and abuse, and dismissed claims that “homosexual people are more prone to abuse children than straight people.”

Another spokesman for the summit, Maltese Archbishop Charles Scicluna, took a similar position, stating that homosexuality does not predispose a person to sinful actions.

Dozens of journalists accused of breaking Pell suppression order face possible jail terms

Dozens of journalists have been threatened with a charge of contempt of court – and could face possible jail terms – over reporting of the Cardinal George Pell trial.

Victoria’s director of public prosecutions, Kerri Judd QC, has written to as many as 50 individual publishers, editors, broadcasters, reporters and subeditors at the media giants News Corp Australia, Nine Entertainment, the ABC and several smaller publications, accusing them of breaching a nationwide suppression order imposed during the case.

Show-cause notices were sent to the journalists in early February saying that they had potentially interfered with the administration of justice and scandalised the court.

The ones who do not have a strong enough explanation could be prosecuted.

Why Australian media couldn't report George Pell's conviction last year

For months, journalists in Australia were not allowed to report one of the biggest stories in the world.

That story has now been revealed: Cardinal George Pell was found guilty of multiple child sex offences in December last year.

Pell is the most senior Catholic cleric in the world to be convicted of such offences and the case was reported in many international news outlets.

Australian media were not able to report on the decision because Cardinal Pell was also due to face charges at a second trial in early 2019, related to alleged abuse committed in Ballarat, reportedly at a swimming pool.

A suppression order was put in place because publication of the first conviction could prejudice the second case.

Australian cardinal George Pell - third most powerful man in Vatican - convicted of molesting two choirboys

The most senior Catholic cleric ever charged with child sex abuse has been convicted of molesting two choirboys moments after celebrating Mass, dealing a new blow to the Catholic hierarchy's credibility after a year of global revelations of abuse and cover-up.

Australian Cardinal George Pell, Pope Francis' top financial adviser and the Vatican's economy minister, bowed his head but then regained his composure as the 12-member jury delivered unanimous verdicts in the Victoria state County Court on December 11 after more than two days of deliberation.

The court had until today forbidden publication of any details about the trial.

Nun says 'storm will not pass' as Vatican ends summit

A top Catholic cardinal has admitted that pedophiles were allowed to prey on children after Church files on priests who sexually abused minors were destroyed.

The revelation came as a Vatican summit on a pedophilia crisis that has devastated lives in countries across the globe came to a close on Sunday, with Pope Francis warning victims to lower their expectations.

The meeting was marked by horror stories from abuse victims, some of whom told painful stories of abuse and cover-up when the conference began on Thursday.

One of the victims said she was forced to have three abortions after being abused for years by a priest who beat her, while another said he had been molested more than 100 times.

Cyborgs for God: New Robot in Kyoto Will Offer Buddhist Wisdom in Plain Terms

A humanoid robot modeled after Kannon, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, has been tasked with explaining the teachings of Buddha in colloquial language at the Kodaiji Temple in the city of Kyoto, Japan.

On Saturday, Mindar, the robot, gave its first speech on the Heart Sutra, a key scripture in Buddhist teaching that — in part — offers a path to "overcome all fear, destroy all wrong perceptions and realize perfect nirvana," while temple music played in the background, the Japan Times reported.

"If an image of Buddha speaks, teachings of Buddhism will probably be easier to understand," Tensho Goto, the chief steward of the Kodaiji temple said in a news conference about the robot's release. "We want many people to come to see (the robot) to think about the essence of Buddhism."

Church files on paedophile priests 'destroyed', cardinal admits

A top Catholic cardinal admitted on Saturday that Church files on priests who sexually abused children were destroyed or never even drawn up, a move which allowed paedophiles to prey on others.

"Files that could have documented the terrible deeds and named those responsible were destroyed, or not even created," German Cardinal Reinhard Marx said in a speech to a landmark Vatican summit on tackling paedophilia in
the clergy.

"Instead of the perpetrators, the victims were regulated and silence imposed on them. The stipulated procedures and processes for the prosecution of offences were deliberately not complied with, but instead cancelled or overridden," he said.

Marx was speaking on the third day of an unprecedented meeting of the world's top bishops which Pope Francis has called in an effort to get on top of a crisis that has dogged the Roman Catholic Church for decades.

Verbal attack on French philosopher new anti-Semitism jolt

An upsurge in anti-Semitism in France reached a climax this weekend with a torrent of hate speech directed at a distinguished philosopher during a march of yellow vest protesters, adding to questions about the radicalized fringes of the movement hidden within French society and troubling the nation. Paris judicial authorities opened an investigation Sunday into anti-Semitic remarks hurled at Alain Finkielkraut a day earlier as he accompanied his mother-in-law to her Left Bank home in Paris. The investigation is being conducted into "public insult based on origin, ethnicity, nationality, race or religion" after a band of men in the protest march raged at Finkielkraut. "Go back to Tel Aviv," "Zionist," and "France is our land" were among the insults captured on video.

Anti-Semitism rising sharply across Europe, latest figures show

Anti-Semitism is rising sharply across Europe, experts have said, as France reported a 74 per cent increase in the number of offences against Jews last year and Germany said the number of violent anti-Semitic attacks had surged by more than 60 per cent. The figures confirm the results of three recent Europe-wide surveys showing Jewish people feel at greater risk, and are experiencing markedly more aggression, amid a generalised increase in racist hate speech and violence in a significantly coarser, more polarised political environment ... The French president, Emmanuel Macron, denounced the trend as "unacceptable", telling ministers that anti-Semitism in France was "a repudiation of the Republic and its values". Petra Pau, an MP for Germany's Die Linke party, said more and more people felt free to "deny the Holocaust and engage in anti-Semitic agitation".

The spirit of the times loves, honors, and defends us, watches over our interests; it even needs our imprimatur. " ... Obviously, it is "sweet" to be Jewish in these final years of the century, but only a Jew has the right to say so. In effect, as Finkielkraut acknowledges, it is no longer possible to publish without the imprimatur of organized Jewry.

The Growing Anti-Semitism Scam

The alleged increase in anti-Semitic incidents is largely fueled by how those incidents are defined. Israel and its friends have worked hard to broaden the parameters of the discussion, making any criticism of Israel or its activities either a hate crime or ipso facto an anti-Semitic incident. The U.S. State Department's working definition of anti-Semitism includes "...the targeting of the state of Israel," and it warns that anti-Semitism is a criminal offense. Recent legislation in Washington and also in Europe has criminalized hitherto legal and non-violent efforts to pressure Israel regarding its inhumanity vis-à-vis the Palestinians ... All of the media exposure of so-called anti-Semitism has a political objective, whether intended or not, which is to insulate Israel itself from any criticism and to create for all Jews the status of perpetual victimhood

Vatican summit on child sex abuse: What to expect

Pope Francis has summoned senior bishops from all over the world to Rome for a landmark meeting on sexual abuse.

From Thursday to Sunday, 190 Catholic leaders, including 10 women, will gather in the Italian capital at the pope's request; the event marks the first time in history that a pope has called senior bishops to discuss sexual abuse.

Scandals have struck the Catholic Church for decades, with pressure increasing after journalistic and judicial investigations revealed patterns of sexual abuse and cover-ups.

Further cases in 2018 heightened the crisis - some senior bishops have said the issue puts the very credibility of the Catholic Church at stake.

Supreme Court rejects abortion provider’s attempt to get bishops’ internal documents

The US Supreme Court has rejected hearing an appeal from Whole Woman’s Health, a Texas-based abortion facility chain, which aimed to get the Texas Catholic bishops’ internal communications about abortion.

In December 2016, Whole Woman’s Health sued over a Texas law that requires abortion facilities to bury or cremate aborted human remains.

The Texas Catholic bishops offered to provide burials to all unborn children who were aborted, which led to the abortion chain subpoenaing decades of internal religious deliberations among the bishops regarding abortion, even though they were not part of the lawsuit.

Two Catholic cardinals say 'homosexuality' is to blame for sexual abuse committed by priests - not the clerics themselves

Two Catholic cardinals claim homosexuality is to blame for the sexual abuse scandal engulfing the Church - not the clerics themselves.

They argue that Pope Francis' criticism of clerical power did not address the 'primary fault' which was a corruption of the absolute law, including by 'the plague of the homosexual agenda.'

Pope Francis has previously analysed the problem as a structural and cultural one which he calls, 'clericalism.'

Zionism Contradicts Judaism

The plain fact is that we Jews are not a race and we should not let the Zionists persuade us that we are. Proof to the contrary lies in Palestine, plain for all to see. Pope defrocks top US cardinal Theodore McCarrick after church found him guilty of sexually abusing minors and soliciting sex 'during confession'

Pope Francis has defrocked a former US Cardinal after the church found him guilty of sexually abusing minors.

He was also found guilty by the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith of soliciting sex while hearing confession, the Holy See said in a statement on Saturday.

An investigation last year detailed settlements paid to men who had complained of abuse when McCarrick was a Bishop in New Jersey in the 1980s.

World Council of Churches rebuts ‘antisemitism’ claim by Israel advocacy group

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has rejected claims by an Israel advocacy group that its Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) “embodies anti-Semitism”.

As the paper noted, the EAPPI sends “ecumenical accompaniers” (EAs), who “aims to offer a protective presence to vulnerable communities, monitoring and reporting human-rights abuses”.

NGO Monitor has accused the WCC of “singling out Israel” and thus “antisemitism”, through its EAPPI initiative. The group also urged donors to rethink giving to the programme.

Amid uproar, Vatican clarifies Pope's comments on 'sexual slavery' of nuns

A day after Pope Francis created an international uproar by saying Catholics nuns had been subjected to "sexual slavery" by the founder of a French order, the Vatican sought to clarify his remarks.

"When the Holy Father, referring to the dissolution of a Congregation, spoke of 'sexual slavery,' he meant 'manipulation,' a form of abuse of power which is reflected also in sexual abuse," said Vatican spokesman Alessandro Gisotti.

The Pope's shocking comments were the first time he has publicly acknowledged the sexual abuse of nuns by Catholic bishops and priests. To date, much of the clergy abuse scandal has focused on minors, who represent the vast majority of cases.

But many Catholics say abuse of vulnerable adults, including nuns and seminarians, has long been a problem in the church.

WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump indicated this weekend that some US troops in Syria would remain there “to protect Israel,” in an apparent shift from his earlier insistence on an absolute withdrawal.

In an interview with Margaret Brennan of CBS News, Trump was pressed to identify precisely how much of America’s force presence there would be coming home – and how quickly.

“We’re going to be there and we’re going to be staying. We have to protect Israel,” he replied. “We have to protect other things that we have. But we’re – yeah, they’ll be coming back in a matter of time.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The logical question which should have been asked by this alleged CBS reporter, and of course was not is, with all the money and equipment with which the US has gifted Israel, why in the name of heaven does Israel need protecting at all, more than what the US has already given, and committed to give to Israel?!?

Apparently,"amazingly intellectually lazy and woefully uninformed " is the new "standard" for reporting at CBS. Because had she actually bothered to do her homework, she would have understood the following:

US Defense Budget Prioritizes Securing Israel over Deterring IranThis article goes on to state the following:

"Securing Israel. The FY 2019 budget codifies the 10-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) that the Obama Administration signed with the Israeli government in September 2016. This MOU offered “the single largest pledge of military assistance in US history”—$38 billion over a decade. The language included in FY 2019 is unprecedented in its scope and content, lavishing US support on one single ally. The decision to help Israel with unmanned aerial systems came after Iran, Hezbollah, and IS flew drones in Syria during the past few years. This US support comes as the Israeli government seems increasingly concerned about the backlash of US-Iranian tensions and the potential for a growing number of heavy rockets and long-range missiles launched toward Israel. The FY 2019 budget urges the Trump Administration to begin talks with the Israeli government to determine “the quantity and type of precision guided munitions in the event of a sustained armed confrontation” with Hezbollah and Hamas."

Please let that number sink in : $38 billion dollars over ten years. means that Israel will be receiving $3,800,000,000 per year over 10 years.

So if, in fact, Israel is being provided getting nearly 4 billion dollars per year for the next decade, courtesy of the highly generous US taxpayers, (who, of course, had utterly no say in this matter), then why is this nuclear-armed, self-proclaimed theocracy, pathologically incapable of defending itself against Syria, or, in fact, Iran?!?

And forgive me, President Trump, but is it not totally illegal for the US government to give any aid or military assistance to Israel because it refuses to have its nuclear sites inspected, and to join the NNPT, as Iran has done, because such aid is in flagrant violation of both the Mann Act, and the Symington Amendment?!?

just doing a little "reality check" here, sir.

Sorry, Mr. President, with these statements regarding the the reasons for the US military staying in Syria, you just threw logic right smack on its head, and it is suffering from a severe concussion.

The US presence at al-Tanf in Eastern Syria, has utterly nothing to do with "defending Israel", but everything to do with having a military "beach head" for a potential invasion of Iran.

The maps tell the story:

Al Tanf: why it matters

This is also the reason why US troops will not be leaving Iraq any time soon, either, even though the Iraqi government has asked it to leave, and so far, nicely.

Holocaust Deceit, ‘Remembrance,’ and Reality

Lurid falsehood and outright lies are routinely promoted, even by supposedly reputable media, as part of the seemingly endless campaign of "Holocaust Remembrance." A recent item in Canada's most prestigious daily newspaper about the wartime German concentration camp of Buchenwald is a good example. Specific falsehoods are cited, and discredited. Such historical deceit is a routine part of the relentless "Holocaust" campaign, which plays such an important role in our society because it's an expression of Jewish-Zionist power, and is meant to further Jewish-Zionist interests.

The secular religion of “the Holocaust”, a tainted product of consumer society

The religion of "the Holocaust" is a secular one: it belongs to the lay world; it is profane; in actuality, it has at its disposal the secular arm, that is a temporal authority with dreaded power. It has its dogma, its commandments, its decrees, its prophets and its high priests. As one revisionist has observed, it has its circle of saints, male and female, amongst whom, for example, Saint Anne (Frank), Saint Simon (Wiesenthal) and Saint Elie (Wiesel). It has its holy places, its rituals and its pilgrimages. It has its sacred (and macabre) buildings and its relics.
Note: People have been and are put in jail for not believing, some have been executed because of this monstrous lie. Holocau$t....prove it! Can't be done because it never happened!

Holocaust Memorial Day: 'Shocking' levels of denial remain

Five per cent of UK adults do not believe the Holocaust took place and one in twelve believes its scale has been exaggerated, a survey has found. The poll of more than 2,000 people was carried out by Opinion Matters for the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT). Meanwhile, people have gathered across the country to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. More than 11,000 activities took place, including a national commemorative ceremony in Westminster. In the survey, 45 percent of those polled said they did not know how many people were killed in the Holocaust, while one in five (19%) believed fewer than two million Jews were murdered.
Note: holocau$t the biggest lie ever perpetrated in the history of mankind and it takes only a couple of hours to expose the lie. 6 million, 6 million!

Pope Heads To Caravan Country To Push Central American Migration

Pope Francis is the most pro-Islamic, subjugated Pope in modern history. Yet they still threaten to kill him, which is further proof that submission and accommodation to Islam is perceived as weakness and gives way to more demands, more conquest, more attacks in the cause of Islam.

This Pope is a disgrace. He is selling out his people, condemning them to futures of unimaginable misery.

The evolving response of the Church in Kentucky to Covington Catholic incident

However, both statements, along with the entire websites of the Diocese of Covington and the high school, have since been taken down, after subsequent, longer footage and additional information complicated the original interpretation of the video.

In longer videos, the students appear to have first been provoked by a group called the Black Israelites, who were shouting disparaging remarks at them largely about the Catholic Church and Trump. The videos also showed that the students were approached by the demonstrators from the Indigenous People’s March, including Phillips, which contradicted prior reports that the students had surrounded them.

As additional information emerged, the Diocese of Covington released a new statement on Monday, Jan. 22, in which they announced both the temporary closing of Covington Catholic High School and a third-party investigation into the events at the Lincoln Memorial.

Vatican 'knew paedophile Argentine bishop who Pope Francis treated as his 'spiritual son' had taken naked selfies and performed sex acts in public'

The actions of an Argentinian bishop who allegedly sexually abused his Catholic students, took naked selfies and performed sex acts in public was known to the Vatican, it has emerged.

Pope Francis accepted Bishop Gustavo Zanchetta's resignation in August 2017, after priests in a remote northern Argentine diocese complained about his behaviour.

Other colleagues also reported allegations of abuses of power and sexual harassment of adult seminarians, said former vicar of the same parish Juan Jose Manzano.

The new reports undermine Vatican claims that allegations of sexual abuse were only made a few months ago.

Pope Francis: World Government Must Rule U.S. ‘For Their Own Good’

Pope Francis’s idea that Americans would be better off under a world government doesn’t stop there. The radical leftist pontiff also went on record stating that Europe should become one country under one government.

Terror-free Slovakia completely refuses Islam and won’t allow a single mosque

Slovakia is the last EU Member State without a single mosque, TRT World reports. Previous attempts to build have been halted by politicians.

The country does not recognise Islam as a religion and only have a few thousand Muslim residents. Islam must not be taught in schools and the 5,000 Muslims, mostly European ones, who reside in the country are not officially recognised. They account for only 0.1% of the population.

In 2007, politicians changed the country’s laws so that 20,000 signatures from members were required to be recognised by the state. In 2017 they more than doubled the number of necessary signatures.

Not being officially recognised poses major difficulties for the group. Among other things, they are not allowed to have official religious leaders, conduct Muslim marriages or receive financial contributions from the State, rights which 18 other recognised religions have.

Israeli Museum To Take Down 'McJesus' Statue After Christians Clash With Police

The controversial artwork features McDonald's mascot Ronald McDonald nailed to a cross - something the author views as a touch of consumerism on Christian values. The artist himself, however, asked the museum to withdraw the statue from display after joining a pro-Palestinian movement.

The Haifa Museum of Art has been forced to take down an artwork which offended the country's Arab Christian minority community.

The exhibit called "McJesus", which depicts a crucified Ronald McDonald, will be removed "as soon as possible", Haifa Mayor Einat Kalisch-Rotem said, as quoted by the Haaretz newspaper.

Ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick's key accuser has met with New York City prosecutors as part of sex abuse scandal in the Catholic Church in which 1,000 priests sexually abused children

The key accuser in the sex abuse case against ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick has met with New York City prosecutors, evidence that the scandal that has convulsed the papacy is now part of the broader U.S. law enforcement investigation into sex abuse and cover-up in the Catholic Church.

James Grein gave testimony last month to Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Sara Sullivan, who is investigating a broad range of issues related to clergy abuse and the systematic cover-up by church superiors, Grein's attorney, Patrick Noaker, told The Associated Press.

The development is significant, given that the Vatican investigation against McCarrick has already created a credibility crisis for the Catholic hierarchy including Pope Francis, since it was apparently an open secret that McCarrick slept with adult seminarians. Grein's testimony, however, includes allegations that McCarrick, a former family friend, also groomed and abused him starting when he was 11.

Democrats Embrace Anti-Catholic Bigotry

“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” —Article VI, U.S. Constitution (emphasis added)

Pushed increasingly leftward by a cadre of new members who demand it, the Democrat Party’s animus toward organized religion is becoming impossible to hide. In one of the more ugly displays of that animus, Senators Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Mazie Hirono (D-HI) attempted to impose their own religious test on Brian Buescher, an Omaha, Nebraska, lawyer nominated by President Donald Trump to sit on the U.S. District Court in that state. Both women asserted that Buescher belonged to an organization that promoted “extremist” views.

British Parents Removing Children from Lessons on Islam, Report Finds

A report that found that parents in Essex are removing their children from Religion Education (RE) lessons on Islam and school trips to mosques.

SACRE, which recommends the teaching of religion in schools, said that it would need to launch an investigation into how many parents are pulling their children from aspects of religious education teaching.

China passes law to make Islam 'compatible with socialism'

China has passed a new law that seeks to "Sinicize" Islam within the next five years, the latest move by Beijing to rewrite how the religion is practised.

China's main English newspaper, Global Times, reported on Saturday that after a meeting with representatives from eight Islamic associations, government officials "agreed to guide Islam to be compatible with socialism and implement measures to Sinicize the religion."

The newspaper did not provide further details or the names of the associations that agreed to the decree.

Stunner: Vatican said to have deemed McCarrick sex acts with 16-year-old altar boy as ‘consensual’

“The credible evidence has been dropped because the altar boy went to St. Patrick’s Cathedral to solicit sex from McCarrick,” according to James Grein, another man whom McCarrick had abused as a boy. As a newly ordained priest, McCarrick had baptized Grein when he was an infant and then molested him repeatedly for 18 years beginning when Grein was just 11 years old.

“He was 16 years old,” so “he was a consensual adult,” added Grein in his recent interview with Taylor Marshall. “There was no crime.”

Despite the fact that the United States views a 16 year old as a minor, Canon law views a young person of that age as having reached the age of majority.

Cardinal Marx urges change in tradition ahead of celibacy discussion

German Cardinal Reinhard Marx of Munich and Freising called for change in long-standing church tradition as the German bishops’ conference prepares for a workshop debate to “review” the issue of celibacy for priests.

In his homily at New Year’s Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady in Munich, Cardinal Marx said the Church must, “in light of the failure” surrounding the clergy sex abuse crisis, modify tradition in response to changing modern times.

“I believe the hour has come to deeply commit ourselves to open the way of the church to renewal and reform,” Cardinal Marx said, according to a text of the homily posted on the archdiocesan website. “Evolution in society and historical demands have made tasks and urgent need for renewal clear to see.”

Investigation reveals Roman Catholic dioceses have named more than 1,000 priests and others for sexually abusing children in just four months

Over the past four months, Roman Catholic dioceses across the U.S. have released the names of more than 1,000 priests and others accused of sexually abusing children in an unprecedented public reckoning spurred at least in part by a shocking grand jury investigation in Pennsylvania, an Associated Press review has found.

Nearly 50 dioceses and religious orders have publicly identified child-molesting priests in the wake of the Pennsylvania report issued in mid-August, and 55 more have announced plans to do the same over the next few months, the AP found. Together they account for more than half of the nation's 187 dioceses.

The review also found that nearly 20 local, state or federal investigations, either criminal or civil, have been launched since the release of the grand jury findings. Those investigations could lead to more names and more damning accusations, as well as fines against dioceses and court-ordered safety measures.

Vatican Knew About Legionary Founder Maciel’s Abuse From 1943

Cardinal João Bráz de Aviz, the prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, has disclosed that the Vatican had documents on the abusive conduct of the disgraced founder of the Legionaries of Christ, Father Marcial Maciel, from as long ago as 1943.

The Brazilian cardinal said “those who covered it up were a mafia, they were not the Church,” according to the Spanish Catholic online magazine Vida Nueva.

Cardinal Bráz de Aviz did not give any more details about the documents, which he mentioned in a talk he gave at a Madrid conference late last year, but said the Legionaries currently have “nothing to do” with such a coverup and now follow “a very good process.”

Swedish State TV: Virgin Mary cloned herself, and Jesus was transgender

The birth of Jesus, which is celebrated on Christmas Day, occurred without his having a biological father. State owned SVT, however, has solved the mystery of the virgin birth.

Jesus or Virgin Mary may have been transsexual, they reason. Was Jesus born as a girl? SVT asks and believes they have found support for that theory in science.

SVT’s claim is not the Biblical account of the virgin birth, but that Mary became pregnant with Joseph or someone else. But the highly biased, left-wing channel has launched a more gender-modern theory:

A phenomenon known as parthenogenesis. It occurs among algae, fish and frogs and means that an embryo develops without fertilisation. The offspring then becomes genetically identical to the mother – which means that it must have the same gender.

As both the name and pronoun of Jesus are described as male in the scriptures, it can also be concluded that Jesus was a transvestite / transsexual according to the channel.

Muslim leader who said polygamy is a civil right, demands “democratic representation” in Italian Government

Hamza Piccardo is one of Italy’s most prominent Muslim leaders. In the past he has claimed that “polygamy is our civil right” and now he has written to Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini requesting he “establish an electoral process leading to the election of a democratic representation of Italian Muslims.”

He is the founder of the Union of Italian Islamic Communities (UCOII) and is known for his assertion that Italians should not “undervalue polygamy’s demographic effect,” which he believes would help Italy’s low birthrate and the need for foreign workers and should be considered a civil right as much as gay marriage is.

So, now he is asking that Italian government to bring Islam into the political establishment: “Let the government organise a consultation that can bring order to Italian Islam, we are fed up with this anarchy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To Italian Prime Minister Salvini: this is absolutely the camel's nose (or should I say, noses?!?) under the tent.

If you allow this to happen, with at least a (nominally) Christian population in Italy, please get ready for the full frontal onslaught of pure Sharia law in your country, which I would suggest may cause violence, and riots.

Mr. Piccardo is completely free to change his residence to that of any country which currently does honor Sharia law, and so do his followers, should they wish it.

PALESTINE PULSEGaza's Christians blocked from travel to Bethlehem

Palestinian Christians in Gaza are feeling a damper on the Christmas spirit this year as Israeli authorities have blocked many from receiving exit permits to celebrate the Christmas holidays in Bethlehem in the West Bank.

While Western Christians celebrate, following the Gregorian calendar, Dec. 25 of every year, Eastern churches — to which the majority of Palestinian Christians belong — follow the Eastern calendar and celebrate on Jan. 7.

The international organization Middle East Concern, which advocates for the rights of Christians in the Middle East and North Africa, said in a Dec. 10 statement that most of the applications by Christian Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for permits to participate in Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem had been rejected by Israeli authorities. It noted that "nearly all" of the requests were rejected, "with only Christians over the age of fifty-five being allowed to travel."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Satanists Wage War on Christmas By Erecting Statue That Mocks Jesus

When we think of the War on Christmas, it’s often people being being politically correct about certain language or words, but this group literally represents the polar opposite of the reason for the season.

The statue features a hand holding an apple with a snake wrapped around the hand, an obvious representation of the temptation in the Garden of Eden from the Old Testament. The Satanist display is not only close to the Christmas tree, but also a Nativity scene and a Hanukkah menorah.

The title of the Satanic display is “Knowledge Is The Greatest Gift,” which is meant to mock Christianity.

Canadian Imam Claims Saying 'Merry Christmas' Worse Than Murder, Twitter Seethes

Those Muslims who congratulate Christians on the Christmas holiday are committing crimes which are even worse than murder, according to Sheikh Younus Kathrada from the Canadian province of British Columbia.

During his sermon at the Muslim Youth of Victoria, which came ahead of Christmas celebrations across the globe, Kathrada expressed regret over Muslims' perception of what he described as a "false holiday", claiming that they "must be offended" by the beliefs of Christians.

"There are those who will say to them 'Merry Christmas'. What are you congratulating them on? Congratulations on the birth of your Lord? Is that acceptable to a Muslim? Are you now approving of their beliefs? By saying that you are approving of it", he noted.

Incoherent Thoughts from the Yankee Capital: Papua New Guinea Looks Better and Better II

Having just returned from two weeks in the curious environs of Washington, DC, I offer a few observations on the national lunacy deposit:

The de-Christianization of the country, or at least this part of it, is almost complete. I can think of hearing the word “Christmas” only twice in two weeks of trough-inciting retail advertising.

Culture shock: We stayed with friends who for various reasons, such as being in the business, always had a television on. At home in Mexico we got rid of the lobotomy box some fifteen years ago, seeing little advantage in paying seventy dollars a month for 250 channels, none worth watching, adorned with twenty minutes an hour of stupid commercials. Coming back to this was like jumping into raw sewage. Perhaps the worst of it was the contempt for the public manifested in running the same ad twice in one commercial break, and in the loving close-ups of pizzas with dripping cheese. Buy, buy, buy.

Christmas: The Greatest Gift for All

In our culture the individual counts. This permits an individual person to put his or her foot down, to take a stand on principle, to become a reformer and to take on injustice.

This empowerment of the individual is unique to Western civilization. It has made the individual a citizen equal in rights to all other citizens, protected from tyrannical government by the rule of law and free speech. These achievements are the products of centuries of struggle, but they all flow from the teaching that God so values the individual’s soul that he sent his son to die so we might live. By so elevating the individual, Christianity gave him a voice.

Formerly only those with power had a voice. But in Western civilization people with integrity have a voice. So do people with a sense of justice, of honor, of duty, of fair play. Reformers can reform, investors can invest, and entrepreneurs can create commercial enterprises, new products and new occupations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Paul, I am going to gently call you out on this. And in the most enlightened instances of Christianity, what you have said here, has generally been true.

However, that being said, have been times when the Christian church did not curb power, or protect the weak. In fact, for centuries, the Catholic church has covered up abuses against children, and not protected them at all, but did a marvelous job in "blaming the victim".
