Saudi Arabia to buy nuclear bombs from Pakistan: report

Saudi Arabia will join the nuclear club by buying “off the shelf” atomic weapons from Pakistan, US officials told a London newspaper.

The Saudis — who financed much of Pakistan’s nuke program — are fearful of international efforts to keep its enemy Iran from acquiring a bomb, the Sunday Times of London reports. The Saudis think the deal, backed by President Obama, will actually accelerate Iran’s nuke push.

Is Washington Coming To Its Senses? — Paul Craig Roberts

There is much speculation about US Secretary of State John Kerry’s rush visit to Russia in the wake of Russia’s successful Victory Day celebration on May 9. On May 11, Kerry, who was snubbing Russia on the 9th, was on his way to Russia, and Putin consented to see him on May 12.

As time passes we will find out why Kerry was snubbing Putin on May 9 and 3 days later was criticizing Washington’s puppet regime in Ukraine. For what is known at this time, a possible explanation is that Washington is coming to its senses.

Conservatives have 'zero tolerance' for protest of Israeli apartheid? Protest must be powerful!

The CBC's recent revelation that Conservative Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney has called for "zero tolerance" of criticism of Israel and that Canadian hate laws could be applied to those campaigning for BDS -- Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions -- against Israel is repugnant enough. But the truly disturbing irony in this outrageous declaration is that the more extreme the Israeli government becomes, the more illegal settlements it builds, the more explicit its open contempt for world opinion and the more outrageous Netanyahu's statements, the stronger is the support from the Harper government. It raises the question: is there any action, including the actual expulsion of Palestinians from Israel and the Occupied Territories that Harper would not support?

Each year on May 15th the Palestinians across the world commemorate “Al Nakba Day”. This year it is the 67th commemoration. Al Nakba means the catastrophe, and refers to the Zionist occupation of Palestine, the numerous massacres they perpetrated against Palestinians, the ethnic cleansing, the dispossession, the total destruction of hundreds of Palestinian communities, the forced expulsion, the supplanting of Zionist Jews in place of indigenous Palestinians and the creation of the terrorist entity of Israel that is still spreading havoc, death and destruction in the whole Middle East.

US Likely to Designate Gulf States as ‘Major Allies’

The White House today announced its intentions to dramatically deepen military ties with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states today, saying they will jointly cooperate to deal with “external threats.”

The most dramatic part of this deal is that the White House is likely to add all the GCC nations to the official list of “major non-NATO allies.” (MNNA)

This designation has broad implications on military ties and US provision of advanced arms. Two GCC members, Bahrain and Kuwait, were already MNNAs, but this would be a considerable boost for Saudi Arabia in particular.

'Like spilled blood': 1st ever Gaza film festival rolls out red carpet among ruins

In eastern Gaza City, among ruins and memories of war and destruction, a red carpet was laid out for a film festival on human rights. The event was held amidst rubble in the Shujaiyeh neighborhood, where some 100 Palestinians died in last year's Gaza war.

The Karama ('Dignity' in Arabic) Human Rights Film Festival was the first of its kind to ever be held in Gaza – and the chosen location was just the “right place” to hold such an event, according to organizer Saud Aburamadan.

“When we were looking for locations to screen the films we arrived in Shujaiyeh in eastern Gaza City, a large part of which was turned to rubble. We stood there next to the destroyed mosque, surrounded by destroyed homes in every direction, and became clear that it was the right place to hold a film festival focused on human rights,” Aburamadan told +972 Magazine.

Go home or go to jail: Israel pressures African migrants to leave

Canada's complicity in the Saudi-Yemen war

The richest country in the Arab region wasted no time quoting their American arms dealers when they declared an end to their bombing campaign on the poorest Arab country last month.

'Mission Accomplished,' declared a Saudi newspaper on April 22 after Riyadh announced the end of a month-long air campaign on Yemen. Hours later, the strikes resumed. It's hard to assess which was more ironic: Quoting a banner on a U.S. warship where then-president George W. Bush declared an end to major combat operations in Iraq in 2003 -- or the fact that Riyadh continued to drop cluster bombs - while simultaneously declaring a reconstruction effort named 'Operation Renewal of Hope'?

60 Plus Israeli Soldiers Tell The Truth About Israel’s War Crimes In Gaza

A new report based on the testimonies of more than 60 Israeli soldiers is making its way around the web. Upon his release on bail on May 7, Canadian neocons began screeching from the hilltops about the ‘travesty’ of temporarily freeing a ‘convicted terrorist.’ Meanwhile, the neo-liberal crypto-militarists who occupy Canada’s mainstream media engaged in stereotypical faux debates consisting of highly constrained babble about the ‘rights and wrongs’ of the treatment of Khadr by the Canadian and American governments.

The issue is never framed properly and is in fact intentionally obfuscated.

Yemen’s Houthis Accept Saudi Truce Offer

Yemen’s Houthi militia has announced that it has agreed to Saudi Arabia’s offer for a five-day “humanitarian pause” of the ongoing Saudi war against them. The plan will begin Tuesday night.

The Saudis had conditioned the move on the Houthis agreeing not to move any of their troops at all during the five day pause, and said they were open to extensions if the Houthis didn’t make any movements.

The Houthis didn’t explicitly refer to the Saudi offer in their pledge, but said they were eager to do anything to ease the suffering of the civilians being killed in the airstrikes and naval blockade.

Saudi Army Strike Force Arrives On Yemen Border In Preparation For Land Invasion

One week ago when news hit that Houthi rebels had launched a rocket attack on a Saudi border town in what may be described as an act of sheer irrationality and one which like Assad's "chemical attack" of 2013 was almost certainly staged not so much by the Yemen rebels to provoke just the desired media response, we said that "a Saudi response now appears just a matter of time, and one which the oil-trading algos are eagerly expecting, pushing Brent to within two dollars of $68." By response, we of course meant a land invasion since Saudi Arabia has already been bombing Yemen for nearly a month (a campaign focused on the Yemen rebels which mysteriously destroyed the residence of Yemen's former anti-Saudi president Saleh).

Saudis Order North Yemen Civilians to Flee as They Airstrikes Escalate

Saudi warplanes pounded the northern Yemeni city of Saada today, hours after blanketing the city with leaflets ordering all civilians out of the Shi’ite-dominated city.

Saada is the traditional base of operations for the Houthis in Yemen, though they have since expanded dramatically, taking almost the entire western coast of Yemen, as well as the major southern port city of Aden.

The Saudis seem to be using the leaflet drop to argue that the massive civilian tolls their strikes on cities are causing aren't their fault, though aid group Doctors Without Borders warned that the fuel shortages caused by the Saudi naval blockade are keeping many civilians from being able to flee the cities at all.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to the Saudi government: where are these people supposed to go, and with no fuel, how the hell are they supposed to get there?!?

This move is rife with the hypocritical cruelty we have seen from the beginning of this US-enabled, Saudi campaign in Yemen.

Russians never really ‘punished’ anybody, in the Protestant, Anglo-Saxon way. Punishment is mainly puritan, Protestant rubbish; the Russian way of thinking is too quixotic for that.

The West lied to Lenin, to Stalin, to Khrushchev and finally to Gorbachev. The West has been lying to Putin and about Putin.

How on earth do they survive in that ‘hell called Gaza’?

“I’m from that hell called Gaza. Extreme poverty, unemployment and insecurity destroy life and future of people who can hardly survive.......

War-weary mother writes
•“Schools work in 2 or 3 shifts a day especially in areas where displaced people of the last war still shelter in UNRWA schools; they don’t have any other place to go.”
•“Travel is not a lifestyle in Gaza… It is difficult for us to live or to leave.”
•“We just dream of leading a decent life.”

The NZSF governance and its contributors an beneficiaries should, in the manner of all decent people, be absolutely outraged that their monies and blood profits are complicitous in the deaths and inhumane suffering of Palestinian children like little Hamza and divest immediately.

KERRY IN RIYADH: A MEETING OF WAR CRIMINALS

US Secretary of State John Kerry appeared side by side with his Saudi counterpart, Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, in Saudi Arabia’s capital of Riyadh Thursday and praised the monarchical oil regime for its role in the bloody nearly two-month-old war against Yemen, the most impoverished nation in the Arab world.

The Saudi royals were to be commended, he said, for their “initiative to bring about a peaceful resolution through the announcement of their intent to establish a full, five-day, renewable ceasefire and humanitarian pause.

Earlier, Saudi warships fired rockets into the town of Hajjah, striking the Maydi Hospital, and more than 100 airstrikes in other areas of the country left scores dead, many of them women and children.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What is that old saw about, one is judged by the company one keeps?!?

In this case, the US government is keeping company with one of the most regressive, repressive, bloodthirsty monarchies in the world; one which thinks nothing of bombing women and children, and using cluster bombs, enabled by the US government's support

IF the Saudi government is any mirror of what the US government has become, it can be safely said that this country is a regressive, repressive corportocracy/kleptocracy, governed not by alleged representatives of We the People, but true representatives of the corporate nation-state, which slavishly do the bidding of those corporations, frequently to the absolute detriment to the needs and concerns of We the People.

And grisly executions, courtesy of the Saudi monarchy?!? How much worse are they than the extrajudicial assassinations of ANYONE in the world the President has decided "needs to be assassinated", with utterly ZERO due process?!? And did I mention not only the alleged bad guy, but anyone around them who is perfectly innocent can be killed outright or maimed for life.

As one who is about to celebrate her 66th birthday, I can tell you very honestly, this is not the world in which I thought I would grow up. I used to believe our country to be a democratic republic, where the rule of law would always prevail, and justice would rule; where elections were about real representation of people's visions and concerns, and where human rights and human dignity would always be respected.

I am deeply saddened at the depth to which those perceptions, in the 21st century, have been proven to exist only as a fantasy.

This country tortures, and outsources torture; it supports sclerotic tin-pot dictatorships, as we do in Bahrain, because that leader is our thug (as was Al-Hadi in Yemen).

And yet, we have massive hunger, unemployment, and poverty, especially for those living in the Southern portion of the country. We have 98 million work-age Americans who are not participating in the employment sector, and yet the talking heads are telling us that the true unemployment rate is around 5%!! There is no real "recovery", save for the 1%.

You cannot believe a word corporate media tells you, except possibly about the weather. Everything else has an agenda to stop you from thinking critically.

What we need now is community, coupled with critical thinking, as a road to transformation.

US Approves Saudi Use Of Banned Cluster Bombs (But Only If They're Extra Careful)

Following a report on Sunday, where Human Rights Watch said video and photographic evidence showed that Saudi Arabia used cluster bombs near villages in Yemen’s Saada Province at least two separate times, the US State Department said it is "looking into" the allegations but, as Foreign Policy reports, said the notoriously imprecise weapon — banned by much of the world — could still have an appropriate role to play in Riyadh’s U.S.-backed offensive (as long as it was used carefully).

Saudis May Go Nuclear

Imagine a regime this ruthless with nukes. Lunatics influencing policy claim a nonexistent Iranian nuclear threat.

They urge developing Saudi atomic weapons to match what Iranians don't have, don't want and deplore.

Imagine an arms race with other regional rogue states wanting nukes if Saudis develop their own.

More Neocon-Zionist Theater in Texas

Gellar’s ‘Draw the Prophet’ charade was the perfect bait for any would-be radical trying to make a name for himself, yet they allowed the provocation to proceed under the pretext of ‘upholding the first amendment.’

As the Garland police spokesman confessed, this had all been pre-planned months beforehand. Only the very naïve or hopelessly deluded will put any faith in the FBI’s lame-duck denials that they deliberately allow attacks of these sorts to take place, or organize them directly by way of informants, such as the one linked to Simpson.

The Middle East map may be redrawn before Iran’s June 30 nuclear deadline

The already extremely complex Middle East may be on the verge of becoming even more so. At this point, the Sh’ia northern arc of Iran, Iraq, Assad and Hezbollah is in confrontation with the southern Sunni arc of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States (with the partial exception of Qatar). Adding to the confusion are the attempt on the part of Iran to outflank the Sunni arc in Yemen, and the rampaging Sunni Islamic State athwart the Sh’ia arc.

It would appear that the northern arc may be about to suffer a further rupture. Reports indicate that Assad’s forces are on their last legs and may soon disintegrate. Such a development would have the following implications:
